15 Books in 15 Minutes

Woman-reading

There has been a tag going around where folks are challenged to take just 15 minutes to list 15 favorite books they have read and loved.  Now, I love reading as much as I love quilting, and have been doing for a lot longer.  In love challenges like this, so I decided to give myself 15 minutes and brainstorm.  I had no trouble coming up with more than 15 titles!

I read this book over and over when I was a girl.  It is about three kids who find a strange coin and whenever they make a wish, only half of the wish comes true.  Very cool book.

This is what is on my bedside table at the moment.  Anything by Sarah Waters is excellent reading, but this book is a Ghost Story.  Guaranteed to make the hair on your arms stand on end!  I am really enjoying it.

I would love to know what books you have loved.  I am tagging everyone.  Email me a note if you post a list on your blog!

  1. I’ve read 8 of the books on your list, plus Half-Magic. LOVE The Time Travellers Wife – did you know that they’re making a movie of it, and it’s supposed to be out this summer. LOVE Kent Haruf, too. The new Sarah Waters sounds intriguing. I’ll have to get that.

  3. I’ve read 5 books from your list. I might have to print your list and check them out at the local library. It’s always great to step out of the reading rut that I often find myself in. I shared my 15 fav over at grassrootsquilting

  7. I’ve read most of the books on your list. All good. Prince of Tides should have been on my 15, though I don’t know what I could have dropped. Also Beloved and Mystic River. And right away, I have to put The Little Stranger on my to-read list. I love ghost stories.

  9. Oh, books – I can relate. My built-in bookcases in the living room are stuffed full, books lying on top of rows of books, and the dining room now looks like a library, with free-standing bookcases jammed in next to the china hutch. I love the English mysteries – of course Agatha Christie, but also Dorothy Sayers, Anne Perry, Martha Grimes, etc. I also love most of what Barbara Kingsolver has written, and Rosamunde Pilcher. One of my favorites that I’ll re-read someday soon, is Watership Down. And of course there are the quilting books – nothing combines good reading and the love of quilting better than Jennifer Chiaverini – I love her books!

  11. I loved Half Magic as a child! I haven’t seen it around lately and figured it must be out of print by now. I’ve read a lot of books from your list, and now I’ll have to try The Little Stranger.

  13. We have a lot of favorite books in common. I haven’t read The Help yet but it is on my shelf right next to Cutting for Stone (my 2 next books to read). Have you read Out Stealing Horses? It is my favorite book so far this year, absolutely beautiful writing.

  15. Oh, this was FUN to see all those titles, etc. I would list but they would probably bore the socks right off you as I read mostly non-fiction. Lots of history. I do read some classical literature and I think my all time favorite novels are written by Jane Austen, Edith Wharton, and Willa Cather.
