I've been able to do a bit of sewing each day and am making some progress (slow but sure) on the projects I've been working on.
These are my blocks 1-6 of the Designer Mystery 2012 project. I love these fabrics and can't wait to figure out how I will put the twelve blocks together into a quilt top. In fact, I kind of wish I had a lot more of this fabric to make even more blocks and do something amazing. I think in the future I need not to sleep on Thimbleblossoms fabrics and let them get away!
I've also been trying to make a couple of the Moonlight blocks each day and am really pleased with how they look. The pieces are pretty small and with my vision issues, I am having some difficulty with both the size of the pieces and some of the fabrics. If the light isn't good in the room I am having trouble telling the bright pink and the orange apart, as the tone of each of them is so similar.
Also, in particular, I am having trouble telling which is the right side of this tone on tone background fabric. I made four flying geese for this block with its wrong side out. Oh well, it is going to stay.
It is kind of hard to tell, don't you agree? I think it will be all right.
This Ott light with the magnifier is actually a big help. I have always used the light, but now the magnifier is really coming in handy.
I hope your week is going well. Our hot temperatures are back, which is typical for early September. I know cooler days are coming though. It just can't stay like this forever. I have a fun afternoon planned today which I am really looking forward to. My friend Sue is picking me up and we are going for pedicures and then out to lunch. Hope you all have a great day too!

That block looks fine to me. You’ll probably always see it, but I doubt others will! Our heat has broken for the time being. “False Fall” is what it’s called here. Might be false, but I’m enjoying the heck out of it!! Have fun with your friend.

I had to enlarge the photo and study it to tell which bits were backwards, and I’m 45 years old, a quilter, and wearing my reading glasses. Sooo, the odds that anyone else (i.e., most are non quilters) will notice (after quilting!) seem minuscule indeed. I’m so glad you are making your own way with those two patterns because it looks great and really fun!
I hope you have a wonderful afternoon out. You deserve it.

I agree about Thimbleblossoms fabrics, if you love them get them. They disappear quickly! Have a great afternoon! Take care!

Your flying geese look fine to me! I understand what you’re saying about buying fabric you really like when it’s new. Waiting often ends in hours of searching online or disappointment. Enjoy your day out with a friend! It’s bound to lift your spirits!

No one is going to notice if you have used the wrong side of the background fabric! Enjoy your pedicure and lunch date!

1) I’ve had the same problem with not being able to tell the right/wrong side with tone-on-tone fabric too. ;p
2) I have a stash of Thimble Blossoms fabric lines(from long ago) What are you looking for? I might be able to help.
3) have a great day out!

White on White is often difficult to determine right side. I have to shine a light on it when I am at the machine. I have one that is a jacquard weave. Since the design is woven into it, I just pick a side and stick with it in that project.

Yes, I agree that your tone on tone white background in the geese are JUST FINE. No one will be able to tell, and certainly not when the quilting is done!
Yes, when I was a brand new quilter, there was a fabric line that I loved and it disappeared before I was ready to buy. Learned that you have to buy when you see it and not wait. Still fuming all these years later that I waited so long. Grrrrr

Hurray, hurray for Spooky and Sweet! I am so pleased to see it’s still in the middle of those wonderful Halloween Memories blocks! You could strip piece some of those black and white thin sashings within the blocks if it helps. Keep going! My HEY BOO fat quarters are on the way. Xox

Love your mystery BOM! If it’s the FQS they are usually very generous and I’m sure you could squeeze out a few more blocks to make it bigger. Thimbleblossom fabrics play well together so you can probably add some of their basics to your leftover fabric as well. I can never tell right side or wrong side especially with batiks, maybe add a paper behind the fabric to see if it will show up easier? I couldn’t tell which ones were wrong 🤣
