This was going to be an update on all the sew-alongs I am currently working on, but since the only one I have made any progress on is Mercantile, it is now a Mercantile Sew-Along Update.
I have finished 14 blocks an am really happy with all of them except the Maple Leaf block. That yellow half-square triangle just doesn't stand out the way I want it to. I may tinker with that one until I get it right.
I prefer my version of this sew-along to the applique version. I like the low-volume background prints a lot more than the circle applique on the busy prints. I think my finished quilt will have a much calmer feel to it.

I really am enjoying this sew-along. It feels so good to use up my vast stash of Lori Holt fabrics. I have an idea for a Scrappy Irish Chain quilt to use up more of these scraps. Coriander Quilts has a couple of YouTube videos on how to make one with a free Scrappy Irish Chain pattern. If you download the free pattern, be sure to note the cutting errors that Corey identifies in the video notes. It isn't her pattern, so not her fault.
Wish this big boy a happy birthday! Archie turned one year old on March 13. He's still a teenager and doesn't mind half of what we ask him to do. Nevertheless, he got a new chew toy for his birthday.

Mercantile is going to be beautiful for sure! Your high level of effort in all you do from choosing fabric to piecing to ironing is very apparent and I wanted to commend you on your effort! Something for all of us perfectionists to aspire to!!

Looks so good! What if you put the yellow in the center, and red on the outside of the leaf. Or maybe an orange instead of the yellow?
