A Good Day’s Work

Hourglass rows
Yesterday I got in a good day of sewing. It was a cold drizzly day, just perfect for staying in. I did two 30-minute sessions using the Pomodoro Technique (explained in yesterday's post) and got the seven rows of my Hourglass quilt sewn together. Tomorrow, I aim to connect those rows and get this top off my design wall.

Clocktower
I am just itching to get the Snowman Gatherings (Designer Mystery 2015) up on the design wall and finished. This is block 8, "Clocktower". It was easy to make, but goodness, those pieces are tiny.

MBH2-2
Speaking of tiny, this is the Moda Blockheads block of the week. I made the six-inch size, which is made up of 1" finished half-square triangles -36 of them. This one took a minute to make, I tell you, even though I used triangle papers to piece them. It has to be one of the cutest blocks ever though.

Good day's work
I am pleased with what I was able to get done! Those Blockheads blocks are making me super happy. I did find a bit more of the Harvest Road fabric. Sue S. was kind enough to sell me a layer cake she had leftover from a project. I'm still hoping to find more of those navy, sage, and brown tone on tones, so if anyone has any they can part with, do let me know.

  1. That is a great days work! And that Moda star block! I could make a whole quilt of just that block!! Today is super cold here, so I hope to get some sewing done. I love how you put out a search for fabric and seem to always find some from your readers. That’s awesome IMO!

  7. Do you need any more Snowman’s Gatherings fabric? I have a 12 inch by 12 inch bin of leftovers that is absolutely stuffed! I finished my quilt before Christmas. This old UFO is done except for the quilting. I am just waiting for another paycheck to take it to the quilter. It looks so gorgeous!

  10. Love your progress! Do you know what layout you will be doing for the Blockhead quilt? I know you can chose from 12” and 6” so was curious on why you chose those size blocks to make. Loving the new color choice!

  13. I love your quilts and books, both are my cup of tea! I don’t want to be “that person” but I wanted to mention that it appears in the top row of your “Hourglass” quilt the Churndash block should be turned to switch the dark and light side. I wouldn’t forgive myself if you got the whole quilt pieced and I didn’t mention it.
    Have a great day!
