Hourglass Quilt Through Block 9

Hourglass through block 9
Here is the latest update on Hourglass, the Block of the Month I have been doing with Quilt Spot. I pretty much saved it up all year and only just started making the blocks in the last month or so. I have completed all the alternate log cabin blocks and all the monthly blocks through month 9. I hope to finish months 10 and 11 this week. I still haven't received month 12, but I think it comes in December.

Eva Badger games
We had Eva staying with us since last Wednesday while her dad and stepmom went on a vacation to Arizona. Her mom Sara had a business trip, so Eva stayed with us. On Friday night she had a school event "Badger Games" in which she wore purple and had a disco theme. I guess it must have been fun, as she came home with a purple face.

Purple face
Have you noticed that kids never want to wear a jacket even when the temperature is 45 degrees? What is up with that? I was freezing when I went to pick her up at 8:30. I had a sweater, a jacket, and a scarf, and used the seat warmer in the car so I didn't freeze. And she was in a tee shirt, as were all her friends.

Hope you all had a great weekend and maybe even got some sewing done!

  1. When my girls were in high school, one of the students on their bus wore shorts year ’round. Crazy because we lived in a snow belt!

  4. My Grandson is 12 yrs and has never like wearing a jacket. It’s a battle between he and his Dad and Dads girlfriend. We live in NW Ontario and it does get cold here and my Grandson always wears his jacket for outside play when it’s cold ie snowmobiling/ sliding etc…so I never worry.
I suspect not wearing the jacket is part of the kids at that age trying to assert their independence.

  7. It is something. Both of my kids go out the door with at the most a sweatshirt…while it is snowing. Hoping this is just a phase…but all the kids are going thru it! lol They do have coats. The coats still look like new. (grin).

  10. It’s cold & snows here a lot. Shorts & no jacket seem to be the ‘thing’ when a bunch of kids are seen outside during the winter. I’m just glad that I don’t have to be the one fussing at them! Seat warmers are one of the best inventions in a long time–along with heated steering wheels! And, great progress on your blocks!

  16. Your quilt progress is awesome! And Eva does look like she enjoyed herself. Maybe it was reflective purple paint that glowed under a black light in the disco??? LOL.
