A year ago, Fig Tree & Co. fabrics came out with a gorgeous collection for Halloween. This is one of several Halloween-themed collections Fig Tree has come out with over the past few years. The pattern above was a Block of the Month program featuring their All Hallow's Eve collection. Fig Tree's latest Halloween-themed collection is called Harvest Moon, and The Quilt Spot is resurrecting the BOM with that line. You can absolutely join in on this year-long sew-along, and if you regret not making the quilt with the original fabric line, no problem! Nothing better than having a second chance to create a quilt you drooled over in the past, but didn't get to make for one reason or another.
This is my first month's block attempt. The Quilt Spot's fabric offering is a bit different than that of other BOMs I have signed up for. They sent about a half yard of most of the fabrics you see represented above, which was way, way more than needed for these blocks. The idea was, that if you followed their cutting directions, and saved the leftovers, you would have fabric available for future blocks. If you have done Fat Quarter Shop BOMs, you know they send what you need just for that specific block of the month. I'll be interested to see how this pans out. The Quilt Spot says you will end up with extra fabric but it makes me want to be careful with my cutting, just in case.
This BOM has a number of blocks that are applique, which makes me nervous. That particular skill is not one of my best talents. I am encouraged by how many people, who have made this quilt in the first go-round, have had great success with the applique aspect of the project.
So far, so good! If you have made this quilt, speak up in the comments and tell us how it went!

I made it and kept putting off the appliqué blocks so finally substituted
Pieced blocks. I know how to appliqué and the blocks looked easy
But I guess I just wasn’t in the mood to appliqué. I like it either way.
I am finishing up a sampler quilt from quilt spot with French general fabric and have made several others from them. I usually make HST,
Flying geese, and hour glass units slightly oversized and trim down and have never run short of fabric. Hope you enjoy the process.

Take a look at Lori Holts appliqué method.. it’s very approachable. You can use a tiny zigzag on your machine if you don’t want to hand stitch. Love this quilt, but I just can’t! In my opinion the new collection is prettier than the original so waiting was a plus! Can’t wait to follow your progress.

I’m still working on the original BOM. all of the blocks have been finished a very long time ago. Life derailed my progress when I got to the pieced border. Maybe I will finish it in time for Halloween this year. I love to do machine applique and found those blocks to be pretty easy as the pieces are quite large.

Your first blocks look really nice! I piece my quilt backs to use up extra fabric once the top is finished. Maybe something to think about if you have as much left as they say! Happy sewing!

remember that LED light you recommended several years ago? the one you bought for reading that sits around the neck? yeah, I bought it for applique way back when.
I’m on my 2nd one. It is so comfortable and I can focus the light right where I need it. machine applique with thin poly thread is pretty good at hiding machine stitches. I just find hand applique quiets my mind and relaxes me.
maybe look on youtube to get started? it’s gonna be a beautiful quilt!

This collection is very pretty and I bought a jolly bar of it. Haven’t decided what I’ll do with it; maybe a runner. I’ve done little bits of applique but it isn’t a favorite of mine.

The applique that are in this quilt are chunky pieces that are easy to handle. I would give starch applique a whirl. It’s a fun change to mix up some applique with your pieced blocks. Have fun!!!
