Four Bindings, Done!

IMG_6384

I'm proud to say I applied myself to the task and completed the bindings on four quilts over the weekend.  Three of them were table runners, but they are done and I am enjoying them as part of the Fall decor.  That's my dining table above.  The runner is my own creation.  Inspired by a quilt I saw on Pinterest, but ending up nothing what so ever like it.

My hall table.  Inspired by a quilt I saw on Pinterest.  There are variations of this block to be found in lots of places including in the book Moda All Stars Mini Marvels.

My coffee table.  This quilt is an adaptation of a larger quilt from a book called Maple Leaf Quilts.

This quilt has been finished for years, but I thought I'd share What's On My Bed with you all.  Birdseye, another Miss Rosie pattern.

It is amazing what you can accomplish when you put your mind to it.  My fingers are sore from the hand sewing, but I am so happy to get these quilts into circulation for the season.

If you have not done it, you might want to read the comments from my previous post on how folks organize their bindings.  I sure got some great ideas and tips from those comments and know I will benefit from them in the future.

Hope you all had a great weekend.  Glorious fall weather here.

  1. How exciting to have these beautiful pieces finished on on display. Binding is one of my favorite parts of quilting… it means the quilt is about to be finished. 🙂 However, preparing the backing is what I dislike the most. I wish I enjoyed it more and would make beautiful pieced backs, but it rarely happens here. Enjoy your hard work and perseverance!

  4. Beautiful quilts for the coming of Fall, coming faster in some place than others. I had lots of quilts done by LAQ before and after my move so I have about 10-12 waiting for binding. I purposely timed myself on making bindings a couple of times and got it down to about 20 minutes for 6-8 crosswise binding strips. That took the drag out of making binding strips for me because I know it takes me so little time if I just get to it. I store them in a little basket in baggies in my sewing room. Some times I make a binding when the quilt first comes back quilted. I freely throw on the floor next to my sewing machine and sew it on without ever rolling/storing it. Slowly I’m getting those bindings sewed down. Try to get one quilt completed in 1-2 weeks, hand sewing. Have just completed the third and #4 is a Halloween quilt so I’m sure to stick with it to have it ready on time. Bribes, tricks and promises are helping me get the bindings done.

  10. All your new finishes look great! And better yet — what a sense of accomplishment. I’m just working on an old UFO, and it does feel good to know it will be off to the quilter this week.
