Royal Worthy

What do you think?  With one of these beauties I could have fit right in at the recent royal wedding. Hats are very popular here in Ireland as well as in England. They don’t really suit my simple country lifestyle but are sure fun to look at.

We returned to “town “ Monday and wandered up and down Grafton and Dawson Streets window shopping and people watching. My husband and I were very taken with a department store called Marks and Spencer which has all the usual nice department store things but has the surprise of a full size grocery store in the basement!

Today we are off to visit Galway on the west coast of the country. Ireland is so small you can drive just about anywhere in a couple of hours. When the Irish visit us in the States they are so surprised you cannot see both Lake Tahoe and Disneyland in one afternoon.

  1. When I was in Irelnd a few years ago I was surprised how well dressed the people were aöö spiced up even on a normal work day (I’m a jeans, sneakers and shirt girl).
    And Dublin is amazing isn’t it? And Galway is too enjoy your time there.

  10. I’m with you Nicole on being a creature of casual comfort. Birkenstocks and denim make me happy.
    Interesting to find a grocery store in a department store. I guess we don’t think of Target or Walmart in that light.
    Hope Galway is a lovely destination.

  16. Love your photo of the hats. I still have the Italian silk hat I wore as an Army officer’s wife. Funny to eat lunch with a hat on! Sounds like you’re enjoying your trip and I’m loving your birdseye view.
