Time to Fish or Cut Bait

Fullsizeoutput_f22

Before I fish or cut bait, I just want to let you know everyone is doing better.  Ozzie is almost himself again, Eva's wrist is pretty good, and my dad continues to think his eye is getting back to normal.  Thanks for all your kind wishes!

So, I am feeling a bit overwhelmed.  I have at least six, no seven, projects that have all the blocks made, but need to be sewn together.  This is not a time to stop and start a new project, right?

You all know how much I love this latest fabric collection I have been working with, Rachel Remembered by Betsy Chutchian.  I made the Windmills blocks you see on the right and they are ready to be sewn into rows.  Then I wanted to do something with all my leftovers, and assembled the units for the table runner on the left.  Then this happened:

See the little quilt at the lower right?  I decided it would be a really good idea to make that with the rest of the leftovers.  I have seven of the nine stars made, and will put this cute little thing together soon.

My plan for the rest of the week and the weekend is to 1) sew the blocks together for Windmills, 2) sew the leftover Windmills hour glass blocks together for the table topper, 3) put together the little patriotic table topper.  Then, it is definitely time to assemble the blocks for my blue and brown Nine Patch quilt, finish up my red and brown S'Mores top, and heaven help me, sew my Moda BlockHeads blocks together.

No more new projects.  Time to finish up what I have in progress.  So that's my plan and I am sticking to it.

  4. I made a list about six months ago of all my UFO’s and I am crossing it off little by little. I have been fairly good about not starting anything new. OK better than usual. it is really difficult for me too! I guess that is what I am trying to tell you😬!

  7. LOL! I guess I should be glad I don’t have a design wall to load up with projects! And due to limited space in my crafting room I can’t start too many things at one time. But I do enjoy seeing all your in progress things.

  10. So good to hear your dad, Eva & Ozzie are all doing better today! You’re going to have some great quilts when you use up that fabric! For some reason, I have a ‘backlog’ of projects, too. I’m usually a finish-a-project-before-starting-a-new-one kind of quilter. But, right now I have at least four in various stages waiting for attention!

  13. Happy that everyone is feeling better.
I’m wishing you good luck with finishing all your projects and hope you are better than I am at resisting new projects. I’m way better at starting new things and finishing WIPs.

  16. Wonderful to hear your Dad, Eva, and Ozzie are all feeling better. Best of luck in finishing those well-on-their-way and soon-to-be-done projects. I don’t allow myself to start anything new until I finish what I started, unless it is an ongoing BOM. It keeps me sane not having too much going on at the same time. Cannot wait to see all your finishes!

  19. yeah, I feel your pain. So many projects going on. Right now, I’m working on UFOs from last year. I got my Women’s March sewn together, back pieced and it is on the ‘need to be quilted pile’.
Now I’m working on my UFO Kimonos made in French General fabric. Made the blocks 5 yrs ago. I don’t have enough of any fabric for the sashing so I ordered yesterday some fabric from Fatquarter Shop.
Since I’ve been good about working on 2 UFOs, I think I’m going to start a new quilt. ACK! This is like an addiction….I can’t control my impulses. ;p
