I'm back from my trip to Ireland, and yes, it really does look like the photo above! We had a wonderful time visiting our son and feel even stronger that we would love to have property in Ireland to live in for at least part of the year. We came home to a horrendous heat wave, and had a firmer appreciation for the 65 degree weather we enjoyed while away.
We covered a lot of territory while we were on our trip, from bucolic drives through Eastern and Southern Ireland, where sheep really do share the road with automobiles-
to a fantastic side trip to London for five days.
We did some touristy things, such as seeing Big Ben and Buckingham Palace, but also did some more unusual sightseeing, such as going to Highgate Cemetery, the Sherlock Holmes Museum, and the Pink Floyd exhibit at the Victoria and Albert Museum. Our son Ahren was the most outstanding tour guide, planning such interesting excursions and activities. One fun thing we did was to have tea at Fortnam and Mason, purveyors of extraordinary tea.
We got back a week ago, and let me tell you, jet lag is no joke. The first few days back home involved waking up at 2:30 AM, raring to start my day. I have mostly recovered, and am looking forward to getting back into a routine and regular blogging. Hope you all had a good August!

It is great to have you back and blogging, and hopefully sewing. Just this weekend I revisited your last post and wondered if it wasn’t about time for you to be back. Glad you had a great trip and welcome home!

Glad you’re back! Sounds like a wonderful holiday. I would love to go to the British Isles. Did your son love his millions of triangles quilt?

Where is Ahren and his quilt?!? Great to have you back, Nicole. Today is the first day of school here in SK, so I hope to get some sewing done when I have the house all to myself. Just think of all the sewing you could get done if you started at 2:30!!

Welcome home, you’ve been missed. So glad you got to spend time with your far-off son, especially since he lives in a very special place.

Welcome home! You’ve renewed my desire to return to Great Britain for another visit. And yes, Fortnum & Mason make splendid teas.

Well I think you had a marvelous and enviable August. So nice that your son could spend some time with you and planned things he knew you enjoy. Your pictures are definitely lovely.
Regarding the heat wave…it has been awful.
So fortunate for you to have missed a good portion.

It’s so nice to ‘see’ you here this morning! Your trip sounds perfect! Being shown the sights by someone who has knowledge of a locale is always so much better than winging it! Welcome back!

So glad you are back. Did you got to Waterford? Blarney? I went two years ago and would love to go back. Ireland is so beautiful. What a dream to think about living there.
