Quilts Gifted

This past weekend I attended a baby shower for my nephew's wife.  This expectant mom received so many wonderful gifts, I know she will be perfectly set up for her new arrival.  I envied her the large group of friends she has, all who seem to have children of their own.  She will have an amazing support group, which is so important when you are a new mother.  My gift to her was two baby quilts, one large and one small.  You see her holding up the larger one in the photo above.

My quilter did a terrific job selecting the perfect quilting design for this quilt.  It enhances the romantic feel of the quilt wonderfully. The fabric I used for this quilt was a vintage Robin Pandolph collection.  I wish I could recall the name of the pattern I used, but sadly, I cannot.  The over all effect is sun-washed and faded, which I think is so pretty.

The smaller quilt also is beautifully quilted, and the swirly pattern of the quilting is very nice against the more angular block design.  The block design is reminiscent of those crocheted afghans everyone's grandma used to make back in the day.  The fabric is one of Pam Kitty Mornings first collections.

My year of giving quilts is off to a good start!

  10. What wonderful quilts! As much as I like red and the second quilt I am in love with the first one. Love everything about it from the muted colors to the design to the quilting. The baby is going to be one very lucky child to be wrapped in it.

  13. These are so sweet and I love that she was so appreciative of them. It seems more and more lately the new mothers I know have ‘themes’ and color choices. I was recently told that one couple only wants what they want. So I am rebelling and they are getting diapers! I would have loved to make them a quilt using some of my very large stash. Your quilts are beautiful as always.

  16. You’ve certainly welcomed your new great-niece in fine style with these charming quilts! I imagine many of those attending the baby shower would have been delighted to take these lovely quilts home with them. 🙂
Robin Pandolph has long been one of my all time favorite fabric designers and I have lots of her fabrics in my stash. The soft sun-washed colors in the first quilt sing to me but ya gotta love red and white, too. Sweet pattern.
If I remember correctly, Folk Art Wedding fabrics had much stronger colors.
Applause, applause for you – and your long-arm quilter who added her skills to the beauty of these quilts.
    Hugs!
