Another Future Project

I just love these soft spring colors in the 3 Sisters Larkspur collection.  I have not bought any 3 Sisters fabric for a couple of years, as I was feeling I had pretty much done them to death.  However, when I saw how pretty this quilt pattern by Miss Rosies' Quilt Company was I was definitely sitting up in attention.  Carrie Nelson made her lovely Into the Wind quilt using this fabric group, and I think it is perfect.  The soft subtle colors are perfect for spring, and certainly fit into my home decor (as well as many of yours I bet!).

If I decide to make this quilt (and I am leaning very heavily in that direction), there will be a lot of flying geese in my future.  That's ok.  I have my Fit To Be Geese ruler by Monique Dillard, and all the time in the world to trim those little guys down to the perfect size.  The last flying geese quilt I made with that ruler was a Bonnie Blue pattern called Shiloh, which is one of my all time favorite quilts.

Shiloh

Maybe it's time for some more Geese!

  1. I love quilts that have a lot of little pieces but are still easy to piece. That is one reason I love Carrie’s patterns! I think this will be a good one! And in your last post you mentioned Simple What Nots – I love Kim Diehl also and always will but I too signed up for one of series for 6 months and was disappointed to see that all the fabrics were exactly the same. I was hoping for some variety.

  4. The Larkspur collection of fabrics is just lovely and I’ve long loved most of the 3 Sisters fabric colors and designs. “Into The Wind” will be a beautiful quilt when made with these charming fabrics.
Oh, “Shiloh” is one of my favorites of your many, many delightful quilts, but then there is Toulouse, Rummy, Over and Under, and … and … and …!!
    Happy imagining!
    Hugs!

  7. I fell in love with your Shiloh when I first saw. Actually, that was when I was convinced to get my own Monique Dillard Fit to Be Geese ruler…ok, rulers!

  10. Shiloh is so beautiful! Hmmm, I’m going to have to go back and read what you wrote about the FG ruler. I’ve seen a few out there but need to pick one. I love seeing geese in a quilt 🙂

  13. Larkspur will be beautiful in any quilt, but I think Carrie’s patterns are a good fit.
Last year you posted the beginning of Rhubarb Whirl. I made a similar version with a different placement of the blocks. Similar because I wasn’t sufficiently attentive. Still, it is a most attractive quilt and a pleasure to make. It’s coming home soon from being quilted and once again I want to thank you for the time you spend on your blog.

  28. I also stopped buying 3 Sisters but a few of their latest collections have me regretting not buying previous ones. Larkspur is definitely one I want to get, good choice!

  31. The Larkspur fabric is beautiful and I love the pattern to go with! I wish I hadn’t seen it because once again I am tempted in another direction!
It’s been awhile since you’ve had some book reviews….reading anything good?
