Daffodils Help

IMG_2507

Thank you for your sympathetic words of comfort over my recent Gmail disaster.  It is such a mystery where my emails have been redirected.  And so very frustrating to have to set up a new account/address.  Would you believe Fatquartershop.com doesn't even know me anymore?  Seriously?  I must order $68 (on average) from them every two weeks and they could not find any record of me today.  Everything is linked to your email address these days, and if that stops working you are in deep doo doo.

So I bought myself some daffodils at SaveMart and I tell you, it made me feel better.  Ahhh.  Deep breath.  In the cosmic scheme of things, this is insignificant.

Another good thing, besides the daffies, is that I finally sewed the blocks together for Sara's Log Cabin quilt.  I am going to add a narrow containment border in black, and then an off white print border in one of the Zen Chic Modern Background fabrics that I used in the quilt.  It looks sharp and crisp, doesn't it?  The design shows up super well I think.  Good choice, Sara.  I ordered the border fabric today, and if Fatquartershop can figure out who I am and actually mail my fabric order to the correct address, we will be good.  FQS is great, but when your records disappear, you wonder if anything will go right again.  "Are you the Nicole in Maryland?" the nice lady asked me.  "No  Nicole in California?  Can't you find me?"  It is as if I have disappeared.  There could be some advantages to this, I suppose.

I have been in such a slump lately.  All I want to do is crawl under an afghan my husband's Grandma Higgins crocheted, and read books on my Kindle.

  1. Hi Nicole! I don’t mean to be too forward, but would you consider a containment border in red?

  4. I think you should crawl under that afghan for a while anyway and enjoy the better part of the day. The quilt is gorgeous. I do like the layout a lot!

  7. Sara’s quilt is lovely and the balanced design is crisp and warm! Your plans for the borders sound perfect, too.
    Love the happy daffodils!
Will you put your new email address in the “contact me” part of your blog? Wishing you well in being found in the Fat Quarter Shop records.
Some things are going on here that are worrisome, so I’d be happy to tuck in at the other end of your crocheted blanket and we could read toes to toes while the world goes by!
On the other hand, today I’ll sew the diagonal halves of Brian’s star quilt together so the center will at last be finished!
    Hugs!

  10. Doesn’t seem fair sometimes but always find out later there are bigger reasons why things happen (no help at all I guess)….we feel your pain and hope things start to go right real quick. Love your Log Cabin and what a great quilt. Yes, I think flowers help everything!!!

  13. Hi Nicole, from gray, wet, thundering TX. Ugh weather-day (probably all week.) I have a nice line-up of daffodils outside my living room window wall, thank goodness. Had lots of TV issues lately starting with not being able to tap the list of Academy Award movies I saved all month to view later. Turns out the cable installed in my attic 25 years ago went south, and with it the DVD box. Lost all the movies but got a new better smaller DVD box that works great, and the new cable is keeping my screen from shattering just at the climax of a movie or the punchline from a comedy. A few frustrating days but now I have my classic movie channel back bigger and better. Who would have guessed the poor cable in my attic was shot. I’m staying in the during the rain, finishing baby knitting, doing lots of quilt work. No excuse needed, just not wading out! Hope all works out in the end. Hope you’re not distressed or “lost” for long.

  19. I hope you can put this behind you soon so that it becomes a distant memory! You have to be so frustrated; not to mention just plain mad that it happened! Meanwhile, Sara’s log cabin quilt is a stunner! Job well done!

  22. Love Sara’s quilt itlloks so freah and clean. Your idea with the black and white borders sounds great and perhaps you could finish this quilt with a dark red binding … you know a link to the squares. Don’t know how it’ll look but perhaps you can give it a try.
I’m sure you can solve your problems with the FQS it’s a really great shop and they are always happy to help and with the exception of your email adress everything is the same (unless you changed your name and resident, too;-)
Enjoy a good book under your afghan look at your daffodils and then you’ll feel better I’m sure!

  25. Sara’s Quilt is GORGEOUS and I really like your plans for the borders.!
Sara did a great job picking this layout.
Sorry to hear about your gmail. That is the weirdest thing I have ever heard of. I have thought about changing my email address and starting fresh then maybe I would not have so many junk emails.
