I am a huge Denyse Schmidt fan. I have purchased most of her collections, and have used them in several quilts. I am jealously hoarding my leftover scraps for future projects. One of her earlier groups that I missed out on, was one called Katie Jump Rope. Oh my gosh was that collection of fabric beautiful, and I missed out on it forever, I thougt. Denyse's designs are kind of 40's retro, with a modern vibe. Always charming and very interesting prints.
Well, her fabric company is Free Spirit, and they have just recently come out with a new collection by Denyse also called Katie Jump Rope. I can tell you the fabric has the same feel as the original designs of the same name, but I don't believe they are repeated exactly. The fat quarter bundles on the top left and right are from the newly released Katie Jump Rope group. The two bundles on the bottom left and right are from her New Bedford collection. I believe these are all still available from Fatquartershop.com. I have some ideas for using these, which I will share with you all once my ideas come together more completely.
If you are a fan of Lori Holt (Riley Blake), but get somewhat weary of the heavy dose of the cuteness factor in her lines, you might like Denyse Schmidt. Her fabrics have a similar vintage feel and similar color palette, but are somehow more sophisticated and 40's authentic feeling.
The photos below are of two quilts i have made using primarily Denyse Schmidt fabrics.
Steam Punk
Crumbler

What delightful fabrics! Both Steam Punk and Crumbler are joyously happy quilts.
Since I seldom buy fabrics but work from my huge stash, I hadn’t realized Denyse Schmidt was also a fabric designer. Just before Christmas I got one of her quilting books from the library and really enjoyed looking at it.
Hugs!

Love those colors! Thanks for sharing the information. I’ll have to keep my eyes open for her fabrics!

I like her fabrics a lot but have some in my stash but I’m not her biggest fan. I just like my fabric a bit more playful more Bonnie & Camille or Fig Tree (or did you see Amy Sinibaldi’s one? Beautiful:-) but to throw some DS fabrics in a scrap quilt is always a good idea!

I love Denyse Schmidt’s fabrics too. In fact, Hope Valley is hands down my favorite fabric line ever! I have love every quilt I’ve seen made with it. And, I’m on my third HV quilt and still have a bunch of it hoarded. I never got any of the original Katie either and will definitely get some this time around! o:)

I have a tiny piece of orange print from Katie Jump Rope–I too was late to that collection! Thanks for the reminder that there is a revisit to the line! Perhaps I can find some at the Road to California show this weekend. Must put it on my list!
