Here is my new little Kim DIehl mat on my coffee table. It is perfect for a pot of orchids, a candle, or a bowl of something. Loving it.
What you can't see in the background is the Super Bowl going loud and strong. I had to work on Sunday, but got home just after half time. My husband was in the throes of watching the game, but handed me a Bloody Mary to sip when I came in the door.
I had a very grueling day, so the refreshments were welcome. I got to work and turned on the POS system and discovered my manager had accidently downloaded a program with a virus attached the previous day. All I had was a white screen. Not much you can do with a white screen. The significance of that is that all receipts and charge slips had to be hand written. We had 10 customers come in the shop the in the first half hour we were open. It was insane.
It all got sorted out by noon, with the help of an extremely helpful IT guy who helped me remotely, from about an hour away. Amazing, isn't it? How we have come to depend on these electronic devices to get us through life. I had to think, one hundred years ago, in the little town where I work, all retailers wrote their receipts out by hand every single day and got through it all right. Times have sure changed. Can you believe I didn't even know the tax rate in our county?
I should have known it was going to be a strange day. As I was driving into work there was a cow and a goat in the middle of the highway. I called 911 to report it, and the dispacher said to me, "Oh. So now it's a goat is it?" What the heck does that mean?
Hope all of February won't be like this…

I think your new little tablet is adorable! Could you tell me more about the Kim Diehl pattern? Is it in a book?
Thanks so much!

I sounds like the dispatcher had been called about a cow. . . but then it was a goat. They probably thought all the callers had started celebrating Super Bowl early!! LOL

Love the wee Kim Diehl table mat and it certainly is perfect with the colors in your room.
Odd the 911 operator didn’t understand the traffic hazard as you described it. Makes you wonder …
Bother and bummer to have to resort to actual math at work and I say that in all sincerity. Did you have a battery operated calculator to use?
Hugs!

In my experience if the POS is going to crash it will happen early on a Sunday morning. Maybe goats on the highway have the same rule? Knowing the current tax rate & finding the ‘paper’ credit card slips anytime, let alone when you have a line of customers, can be a challenge! And, now the groundhog tells us we’ll have six more weeks of winter…I’m glad February is a short month!!

We were once returning from our Saturday Block of the month at our local quilt store, when to our amazement a horse was running at full gallop down the road towards traffic. Fortunately, he was in the bike lane of a very busy four lane road in a suburban neighborhood. One of the gals in the back called 911. She gave the location and direction the horse was headed. The operator asked what color was the horse? My friend answered her- “Brown,” but added “you won’t have trouble finding it, it’s the only horse running down the Main Road”. You got to wonder.
