2014 was an awesome year for quilt projects. For me, it was The Year of Curved Piecing, a trend I hope will continue into 2015 and beyond. 2014 was also The Year of Making Smaller Quilts, which I found to be rewarding. I also finished up some UFOs and got a couple of things quilted that I am enjoying.
So, let's get to it!
January
First small qulit of the year, a Miss Rosie pattern called Jersey Girl, made with a collection called Honky Tonk.
February
The Madness, a quilt for my son in law, consisting of 25 blocks made up up half square triangles, arranged in different ways.
March
Paganini, another small Miss Rosie pattern. Also my most embarrassing moment of 2014, when I posted someone else's Paganini's quilt and asked the quilting community if anyone knew what block it was.
April
August Blooms, a UFO that had been in a box for years.
Crumbler, a quilt made with a Miss Rosie template of the same name. A foray into using brighter colored fabrics, not usually in my palette.
Kaleidoscope, one of my top three favorite quilts of the year. More brighter colors. This was made using a template. I had plenty of problems constructing this, as I goofed with a measurement and ended up having to make all the blocks smaller. It is a lovely little lap quilt now and I love it.
May
This is Trace, a Miss Rosie Little Bites patttern. Love these happy colors. Just right for a spring or summer table topper.
June
Finally got the borders on this UFO and had it beautifully quilted by Mary Flynn of Quilt Hollow. Gave it to my sister for her birthday. Hope she is enjoying it! I sure had fun making this one, with its gentle curved piecing.
Whit, an adorable Little Bites pattern by Miss Rosie. I loved this so much, just the way she showed it on the pattern that I duplicated it exactly. Perfect.

What a gal, what a year. I just returned from Dallas for a quilt class with Bonnie Hunter. The completed quilt I showed the group for the show and share was “Sister’s Choice.” I also brought a flimsy, “Jared takes a Bride.” It was so much fun. My family thinks I sew a lot, but I like quilting so much more now that I do it at home and with my guild and with my friends. That’s part of the fascination. Don’t get me started on shopping for fabric….
