Exciting Fabric Haul

I am dying to share with you some fabric I recently purchased, not to show off, but to introduce you to some fabulous new collections you might not know about.  The fat quarters shown above are from a new group called Another Point of View by Windham Fabrics.  There are four colorways, Pomegranate, Blueberry, Apple and Grapefruit.  If you have been considering adding some "happy" fabrics to your stash, these cannot be beat.  Just wait 'til spring, I will be doing something very cheerful with this collection.

This awesome tower of wonderfulness is Lakeside Gatherings, the latest offering by Primitive Gatherings for Moda.  The blacks, greys, yellows, and creams are just a stunning palette.  This group is very decorating friendly and would be gorgeous in so many of your homes.  There is a pattern Primitive Gatherings has created to go with the fatquarter bundle, and is a Lady in the Lake design.  Very nice.  The dimensions of the quilt in their pattern are not quite my cup of tea–68"x 85".  I would make it wider or shorter I think.  Bonnie Blue/Red Crinoline has a pattern called Belle Meade that would be fabulous too for this collection.

Unless you have been living a very sheltered life (under a rock?) you must have heard of the new RJR designers called Cotton and Steel.  The world of quilting is all a-buzz about them.  They are a group of five young women who design collections independently, but which collaborate amazingly well together.   The concept is quite brilliant I think.  Their fabrics are incredibly colorful, modern, retro and edgy all at the same time.  I chose a pink colorway, with an Eva quilt in mind.  I was very inspired by a tutorial I viewed the other day.

It was a YouTube video I discovered last week from the Missouri Star Quilt Company about making a Tipsy Tumbler quilt, using this Berry Box Basics collection.  I completely fell in love.  This tutorial is excellent, as are all of the instructional videos from Missouri Star.  Check them out if you haven't already.

So there you have it.  I saved up to buy these collections and have no regrets!  In fact, I am thrilled!  I know they won't stay in my stash for long.

  1. Oh, I bought the Mimosa a few weeks ago, too! Isn’t it just awesome? I think I’m going to use mine for to make the sampler in the book Vintage Modern Quilts.

  7. Ohhhh! Delicious and yummy eye candy before breakfast! What could be better?!
These fabrics are wonderful, each and every one of them and I am starting to regret my resolve to use my huge fabric stash rather than buy fabrics. Still, the fabrics on my shelves are beautiful, too.
Think I’ll go see the Missouri Star video before breakfast. Thanks!
    Hugs!

  10. A lovely assortment of fabrics to play with. I bought Mimosa, last week but don’t have anything in mind for it yet. I just love looking at it, it’s so bright and colourful, so I’m waiting for the right project. Perhaps a simple nine-patch with a text print. I just bought a few yards of Jams & Jellies by Jill Finley so might use that.

  13. If anyone asks about the fabric package I’ll be getting in the mail I’m going to blame you. After seeing your pictures of Lakeside Gatherings and the wonderful colors I just had to go and order a bundle. You’re a fabric enabler!:)

  16. Lakeside Gatherings is beautiful and as shown on Lisa’s site sews up well. I would agree about the measurements for the quilt project—that’s really long for a throw.
The pinks from Cotton and Steel are perfect for a princess such as yours. The ladies of Cotton and Steel are exciting designers.

  19. Yum, yum, yum! So much wonderfulness! Enjoy them all as eye candy for a while, and for fondling, and then, when the time is right, cut into them and make them shine.

  22. Envy here. My longarm monitor went out so I had to replace it, then my laptop so replaced that. Fabric purchases sound way better. Thankfully I’m booked into mid February as far as quilting goes so I can pay for my not so fun things. Lol

  28. As soon as I saw the Mimosa collection, I knew it would be a hit with a lot of people. I haven’t bought it myself (trying to work through my prior passionate choices), but it is a nice group. I also like the Lakeside Gathering and am considering a bundle – but I thought it had a lot of dark navy in it – am I wrong? My husband wants a gray and yellow colorway quilt and I have been collecting different yardages for about a year. Thought this would be a good addition.
