Summer Progresses

IMG_1329

Just checking in mid-week.  Hope you all are having a good one.  Summer is well on its way to being over, and that is somewhat difficult to accept, as it seems like summer just started.  No worries, there will plenty of more chickens and corn on the barbie before it is all a distant memory.

This week is another busy one for me.  Taking care of Eva, who has had a bit of a stomach flu, working, and trying to get some household projects done.     Eva just had her third birthday, can you believe it?   I know. It seems like yesterday I was at the hospital watching her be born.  Time passes fast.  At this point in time, she lives for dressing up in princess costumes and pretending Ozzie and Remy are her royal subjects.  Ozzie doesn't play along for a moment, but Remy at least will let her dress him up to play a character in her dramas.  He may not be completely enthusiastic, as you can see from the photo above, but he plays along. Ozzie is the palace thief.  Today, snatching a whole packet of MacDonalds fries out of an outraged Princess Eva's hands–not cool.  He ate them all while she wailed.  That dog.  I tell you, he has no conscience.  But I have been telling everyone that for years…

I really enjoyed reading everyone's responses to my post on "Do you make blankets".  Oh my goodness, did that strike a chord.  I especially liked the last comment from someone who said they had an acquaintance offer them $50 to make a quilt.  People just don't have a clue. do they?

Trusting all is well with you all.  No sewing going on here.  Say, for all you Outlander fans, did you hear that there is a new series starting next week on the Starz network that is based on the Diana Galbadon novels?? Jamie and Claire–the classic romantic characters that will go down in history.  Check it out on starz.com if you are a fan.  You can even watch the first episode for free  And seriously, the actor who plays Jamie Fraser will make it worth your while.  Ahem.

Anyway, all is good here, even if I am too busy to sew.  Hope you all can say the same!

  4. I hope Eva’s stomach bug has cleared up by now! It’s hard to believe she’s already three…time flies! Ozzie is never going to change his tricky ways! At least one of Eva’s dog subjects cooperates with her princess games!

  7. Awwwwwww … perchance Ozzie the Thief will have to be banished to the yard when the Princess has French fries in the future?!
I join your astonishment that Princess Eva is now 3 years old. Hope the tummy bug didn’t dim her enthusiasm for a party.
Hardly any sewing going on here either but some days and weeks are like that. Today I’ll probably hang my late summer Hidden Wells wall quilt with its deep blues, deep greens, and sunflower fabrics (a Mary Ellen Hopkins pattern).
    Hugs!

  10. Happy birthday to Eva! Hope she feels better soon!
I had been anticipating the new Outlander series for a long time (I had heard about it early last year) and yesterday I finally watched it! Starz is offering the first episode online free. Definitely something to entice you to subscribe to the channel for 8 weeks.
I found it very well done and with very little deviation from the text. The only problem I have is that now I have to wait longer for the next episode! So… I started re-reading the book. AGAIN!

  13. I’ve just started the second Outlander book, the series has been on my to read list for years, but never read them til now. Thanks for the heads up on the first episode, I don’t get starz so I’m almost afraid to watch, don’t want to get addicted like I am to the books!

  16. Pretty much the same for me around here. Not much sewing going on is not a comment I enjoy thinking about. Poor Eva! I hope she feels better soon and Ozzie just does what he is told to do by a 3 year old. Fat chance!

  19. Hard to believe that little “E” is already three. Time does fly…way too fast. Just like this summer. I haven’t been very good in the last couple months on my blog reading nor posting but my time has been spent sewing, working and even a little playing.
Enjoy the rest of your summer Nicole!

Love Remy although he looks so embarrassed, like my daughters dog when they have a tutu on him. Hope Eva feels better soon and next time get an extra bag of fries for Ozzie nd Remy 🙂
