I know. Just reflect on that for a moment.
When I was reminded that I had made a blue and white Winding Ways quilt awhile back, I decided to see if I could dig it out of the flimsy bin. Well, bless my heart, it wasn't the only blue quilt waiting to be quilted in there. Three really nice blue quilts, just needing that final touch of completion. It just goes to show you "out of sight, out of mind" is quite true. I really do need to figure out how to decorate with more blue. That is an entire color opportunity being wasted.
The blue and white Winding Ways wasn't even technically finished. I had planned on making a checkerboard border for it, but didn't think I had enough fabric scraps left over. Turns out I was wrong. I got busy and got that border on, and this quilt will now go next up in the queue for quilting!
I love the visual play of motion in this quilt. Circles seem to be dancing everywhere. I used a book called Winding Ways Quilts, by Nancy MacDonald, which uses templates and a cool method of stitching that uses very few pins. I enjoyed the curved piecing, and after the first few blocks, found the method easy and fun to do. I used Perfect Patchwork (Marti Michell) templates ini the 8 1/2" finished block size.

I’m glad you had enough fabric for a border, because I think it looks fantastic.
P.s. I just want to let you know how much I enjoy your blog. I don’t know how you get so much accomplished!

Swoon! I love that … I love the circular effect, I love the checkerboard border, I love the blues. I just LOVE that … and the other blue quilts in the queue as well!
Blue is my favorite color, and most any quilt that I make for myself has blue (and a lot of it). Back in the 80’s I OD’d on blue … every single room of my house was decorated in blues. I think as a result, I’ve gone to the other extreme and been reluctant to use any blue in decorating. Only in this house have I finally done a room (just one) in blue.

Ooohhhhhhhhhhhh! What a feast for my blue eyes! These quilts are just lovely. They will be even more delightful when finished. Perhaps your guest room could be done in shades of blue?
What is the name of the quilt on the far left?
My decorating has settled into cream, blue, green, red, and a touch of black. I use them together or more of one color or another color from room to room. My ongoing favorite color is green.
Hugs!

Look at Ms Speedy! Yep, I still want to make that quilt too. Yours looks great and I can’t wait to see what quilt pattern will end up enhancing it.

I remember admiring your Winding Ways top when you were working on it. It’s still gorgeous. Can’t wait to see it quilted and done. As for the quilt graveyard, “out of sight, out of mind” is much too true. A bit embarrassing, perhaps, but what a delight to find such treasures.
Am very interested to see how your curvy Morris Modernized comes along. I have some of that fabric and am interested to see how others have used it — it is so lovely that I want to find just the right project for it.

Yay! That was a fast finish, plus you got to use up your scraps – double bonus 🙂

love them all! how about a quilt ladder to hang groups of like colored quilts? you could put it up on your stair landing or near the front door like a hat rack would be. the quilts don’t have to ‘match’ your color decor if you put of ‘like’ colored quilts together. just sayin’…..
love them! ;p

Delightful, each and every one – my husband would love them all, blue is his favourite color but I just realized that there is no blue decor in our home, perhaps it is tine to rectify that.

Oh, how I wish that I had some magical cupboard holding THREE GORGEOUS QUILT TOPS!!! My own special version of the Narnia wardrobe…!
How could you have forgotten about these beautiful creations–and the time you must have put into them? If only my old-age forgetfulness could have such a happy ending!

I’m a huge fan of the Winding Ways quilt pattern, and yours is just beautiful – my eyes don’t know which of the circles to admire first!

Love, love love blue. Beautiful Winding Ways quilt and what a great place to display some quilts, over a railing. I try to avoid curves at all costs…never used Marti Mitchell templates but might have to give it a try. I like the gentle curve on those templates. Thanks for the inspiration!
