Hey everyone! Hope you all had a splendid weekend. Now that summer has officially arrived, I am going to be doing a sew along with two friends, using the Quick Curve Ruler designed by Jenny Pedigo of Sew Kind of Wonderful. I hope you will check out Jenny's blog, where she has tutorials on how to use the ruler, photos of her projects, and patterns and tools for sale in her shop.
Sewing along with me are my friends Lisa of Stashmaster and Thelma of Cupcakes 'n' Daisies. We are all using the Quick Curve Ruler and a different Sew Kind of Wonderful pattern. Jenny is not sponsoring this sew along. I purchased my own ruler and pattern. Thelma, Lisa and I don't have any particular deadline in mind for this project–it is just meant to be a fun summer sew along. If you would like to join in with us, let one of us know so we can share your progress over the next couple of months.
This is my pattern of choice, Metro Rings, which I think has a Double Wedding Ring sort of vibe. I thought I had my fabric all picked out and ready to go, but at the last minute I changed my mind. I have ordered a jelly roll of Morris Modernized by Barbara Brackman, and am still waiting for it to arrive before I can begin. Isn't it great that this pattern is jelly roll friendly? I love getting a full size quilt out of just a jelly roll and some background fabric.
I have a bit of a stash bin full of other Morris fabrics by Barbara, and will incorporate them into the mix. I especially like the greens and the rusts. (No surprise there).

Wow! I just love, love, love your fabrics! What are you going to use for background. I love this pattern … I hope you share your progress.

I’ve made Metro Rings and several other of Jenny’s QCR patterns; have fun! They are addicting!

I would love to join in your sew-along! I test-sewed some of Jenny’s early patterns and her directions are excellent. I have the supplies for Metro Rings, also, so that would be my choice to sew.

And away you go!!! Love the fabrics you’ve chosen and am also interested in seeing the background fabric. Have you selected it yet?
I’ve just ordered the Tri-Recs ruler set so may just play with that for a while. Some sherbet color fabrics are calling me to work on them this summer. I think these fabrics just go together nicely but they’re all from my stash and not from any one fabric line. No surprise there either!
It will be a delight to check out the links and to follow the sew-along progress!
Hugs!

Your sew-along might be just what I need to get going with this ruler. Got it months ago, but haven’t touched it! Also have Metro Rings and some special fabric very similar to your choice! Yup, I’m definitely gonna have to sew-along! Great idea- thanks!

I will certainly enjoy seeing your progress, but I just can’t join in right now. Too many other projects in the works. I know you will share your honest tips and tricks on this ruler. I do own it, but I haven’t used it yet.

I have this one hanging on the “to quilt” rack. I used CW with Primitive Muslin for a background, loved how it looked. Yours will be beautiful. Have fun with this, it challenged me a bit along the way.

Looks like a fun quilt-a-long, and I’ll be watching your progress from afar. Your quilt pattern choice definitely resembles a double wedding ring, a pattern I’ve always wanted to make, and your fabric choice is great.

Just back from vacation for a big Greek family wedding at San Diego harbor area. Love being in CA seeing real ocean, real beach, but just got home to dryland prairie in N. Central TX. Hated CA traffic, love peace and quiet in our suburban town. However, CA has that special place in my heart. Back to quilting!! Yay! Yours was my first blog to catch up on. Always loved winding ways and the red dot version caught my eye too. Really like your proposed version of wedding ring and I may keep up on your progress and move on that pattern after 12 years of quilting. You gave me hope! And inspiration to get in the quilt room while I run all that laundry. Smile, have a great day! (
