Whit, My New Love

010

Oh my goodness, do I love my latest finished project.  Whit, a Little Bites pattern, by Miss Rosie's Quilt Company.  You can click on the link and order this as a pdf pattern and  have it instantly!   This is what I have needed all those flying geese units for.  I made the pattern larger, to better fit my rectangular dining table, so I made 20 blocks (instead of 16), each requiring 8 flying geese units.  160 total geese.  This is a mini quilt, without a doubt, but how lovely would it be if you made it full size.  These blocks measure 4 1/2 inches finished, but you could totally make the blocks twice as large for a bigger bed sized quilt.  I love it.  The block is an old fashioned one called "Dutchman's Puzzle".

The fabric I used was two charm packs of Vintage Happy by Riley Blake. So happy with this one!

  1. Applause, applause!!! What a charming quilt this Dutchman’s Puzzle quilt is! Well done!!
I’ve have a quilt planned for using this block ever since seeing two similar quilts made for a guest bedroom by a dear friend in TX. Her twin bed quilts were done in autumn colors but this brighter happy mini version is a winner! Love the polka-dot cornerstones!
How many times did you rearrange the geese before sewing them together?
    Hugs!

  7. I love it too! Which white fabric did you go with? I have several precuts of Vintage Happy – just waiting on the right project. I got some Bella Solid pink, thinking I would make X-Rated last month – but it didn’t work out for time.

  13. It’s lovely!! Carrie has a Scnibbles pattern that is all flying geese also–a slightly different arrangement. The name of it escapes me right now. I made it for one of my grandsons and it is one of my favorites.

  16. I love this Nicole. The colors are perfect for summer and yes, I do see how this could be a bed-size quilt. It would be lovely!

  22. Isn’t this just the cutest little quilt ever? Okay, maybe not EVER… but it’s somewhere on the list. 🙂
And that Vintage Happy fabric – also wonderful. Cute and pretty on the bolt or in a pre-cut… but so much better cut up and made into something.
I know I’m way behind with blogs so I’m catching up everywhere – I love the Figgy goodness going on. If you don’t “love” those pears when you’re done, I’m sure you can find a nice home for that quilt… in maybe Arizona. Just saying… And those Dresdens… Patisserie? Uhmm… you really did start those a long, long time ago. LOL
And Ryan’s quilt is gorgeous. I need to send mine off for quilting! I keep forgetting to do that and it’s time to have it done. 🙂
