2013 Finishes, Part Two

The second half of 2013 resulted in very little sewing for me.  I assumed more care of my little grand daughter and my 93 year old father in law.  Then we moved.  My summer was spent amidst packing boxes and home organizing efforts.

JUNE

I got nothin'.

JULY

Blogger Girls BOM

Blogger Girls Block of the Month, sew along sponsored by Monique Dillard of Open Gate Quilts

AUGUST

Sigh.  I got nothin' once again.

SEPTEMBER

Spooky Canasta

OCTOBER

Fabric reorganization

Well, this isn't a quilt finish, that is for sure.  However, it is one of my organizational accomplishments that I found to be particularly pleasing. I used cardboard comic board forms to wrap larger pieces of fabric around, then stacked them like books on the shelves in my new sewing room.  Love how they look and how I can see what I have at a glance.

Sunflower SIsters

Sunflower Sisters, a sew along project made with a Buggy Barn pattern

NOVEMBER

Clover

DECEMBER

All Wrapped Up

All Wrapped Up, a Moda pattern, Flurry fabric by Kate Spain

Nantucket

Nantucket, Minick and Simpson pattern, Midwinter Reds fabric by Minick and Simpson

I think it is safe to say I am getting my groove back, so here's to more quilts in 2014!

  4. You’ve gotten a lot done with a very full load in your life. This year I’m hoping to make more small quilts, and work on improving my quilting.

  7. Nicole, despite your busy schedule you have certainly produced a whole lot of delightful master pieces – I really don’t know how you do it.
Best wishes for another quilting year.

Sorry for the run-on sentence!

  16. Goodness Nicole what a great year of quilt finishes! I am amazed by how much you have achieved when you have had so much else going on in your life this year and your quilts are point perfect as always.
I also think you are right to include your fabric organisation as an excellent 2013 achievement – those comic boards are a great idea! Wishing you all the very best for 2014 xxx

  22. Very fulfilling “wrap-up” of 2013! I would feel very proud if I were you. In contrast, my quilting/sewing was confined to more handbags (9 in all), what felt like 200 potholders for christmas gifts (in sets of 4) and only one quilt start. I hope to finish that quilt by spring of this year — it takes me a while, LOL.

  37. Yep, you’re like the rest of us, life getting in the way of sewing. You have done really well to finish the things you have. By the way, I finished about the same number as you in 2013. I have just joined Instagram so feel free to follow me over there to see what I’m sewing. I can’t fit in blogging! I’m at sarahkrothe.

  40. I think you had a wonderful year of progress. I too put all of my yardage on comic book boards over the past year – cost a fortune for the boards and cabinets I bought but it was well worth it Your shelves look awesome! You should be proud of all you accomplished this past year.
