I tried. I really tried. Sewing with a toddler under foot just isn't easy. I brought out the Janome, and trotted my Long Road Home project box up from the studio. My plan was to sew in the kitchen while I watched Eva play. She just wanted to climb up on my lap whenever I sat down at the machine.
Up to yesterday, I had made 30 nine patch surrounded blocks. And I couldn't even finish 10 more.
I'll try again today. No baby today, so with luck I may make a bit more progress.
In addition, for some reason I was just so exhausted from the weekend. I worked on Saturday and on Sunday I hosted a little family Oscar party. Fun, but for some reason it all just wiped me out.
Weren't those Oscars something? I love seeing all the glamour and glitz. Could you believe Charlize Theron? How many women could make that hair style work? I think it helps that she is six feel tall. And Jennifer Lawrence? I have had my eye on her since I first saw her. Incredible talent. Congratulations to all the winners and nominees for awesome performances.

Yes sewing with a toddler underfoot is almost impossible! Unfortunately the tools for quilting – iron, rotary cutter, scissors, pins, needles, machine with interesting buttons – do not fit well with the world of Health & Safety especially where toddlers are involved. I have resigned myself to only sewing when they are either asleep or out of the house!

You tried…always another day. 🙂 It’s okay to be tired too!

When you have a day like that with Eva doesn’t it make you wonder how you ever got anything done with your own children there 24/7? Some days are sure better than others.

When our boys were small, I was told that the telephone is a little child’s worst enemy because Mommy’s attention is elsewhere. The same is true of anything that takes attention away for the child.
In a couple of years, Miss E will probably be delighted to have her own sewing cards (remember those?) to work on while you sew. Not too long thereafter, she’ll love her small sizes sewing machine!
Meanwhile, sew today to your heart’s content!
I love your 9 patch surrounded blocks! The colors are just delicious!!
Hugs!

The blocks are so great looking. No rush – just enjoy the making of them.

This is your new normal while Baby E is little…and it really goes by so quickly! You still make a huge amount of progress in your down-time! I agree about the Oscars–it was so glamorous this year! I love the clip of Jennifer Lawrence & Jack Nicholson at the post-awards interview with George Stephanopolis!! Too funny & so Nicholson!! Happy sewing today!

Love your blocks so far! I don’t know how some of these moms do it with several toddlers afoot, they suck my energy right out 🙂 Loved the Oscars! I was so sad to see Jennifer Lawrence fall when she went up there, but she took it in stride. Loved the sexiest producers joke too 🙂

Charlize Theron is absolutely stunning! I’m six feet tall but I most certainly don’t look anything like that! And Jennifer Lawrence is so refreshing to watch. Someone else mentioned the Jack Nicholson/Jennifer Lawrence clip and it is so worth watching for a good laugh.
Your quilt will be beautiful and Baby E can say she helped :-).

I think you’ve hit the nail on the head. with that height, slim frame and face Charlize Theron could have a shaved head and be beautiful! I do love her hair though, it’s always such a pretty colour. I can’t sew with a toddler underfoot either. I had to wait til they were sleeping to be most productive.
