Simply Irresistible

004

Have you ever in your life seen anything so adorable?

Me either.  I had to have it.  It is a Chateau Rouge kit put together by Country Sampler.  I have talked about presentation on this blog in the past, and nobody does it better than Country Sampler.

I have a project in mind for this pretty collection of fabric, but am stalled because I need a special 60 degree triangle ruler to complete the project.  You can bet this yummy package will be out front and center for me to enjoy it while I wait for the mail man to deliver my ruler.

This is the photo of the quilt courtesy of Country Sampler.  I was prepared to let Chateau Rouge slip by me this time, as I felt is was so similar to other collections French General has offered.  However, when I saw this photo, and let the lovliness of those yellows sink in, I realized that this collection does offer something new, and I wanted it.

The pattern is free on the Moda website: unitednotions.com

Click on Free Patterns and scroll down until you find this one.  You will have to download the pdf file, and then print it out.  I don't know whether or not you can see the detail in the photos, but this is not your typical one block triangle quilt.  The red triangles are all strip pieced and cut out with the special Clearview  60 degree ruler I was telling you about.

There sure is a lot of cool stuff out there!

  1. I felt that same way about Chateau Rouge, but then saw a quilt pattern that used the line that I absolutely fell in love with (the one with the scallops on the borders, if you’ve seen it?). I want to order something from Country Sampler just to get a package like that! I agree, presentation is everything! o:)

  3. How cute is that? Am I seeing a fat quarter fabric “basket” filled with fat quarters and tied with a fat quarter bow?
Cute pattern, too. I got a new Hancock’s of Paducah catalog Saturday and saw the new French General fabrics. Of course, I thought of you!
Thanks for the link to the free patterns!
More rain today. Methinks after two whole days of cold rain, we’ve slid a couple of inches toward North Carolina. 🙂
    Hugs!

  5. Wow, now that’s presentation! I love it when fabric looks like it’s good enough to eat. I remember your previous post on presentation and I agreed entirely. It’s much nicer when it looks like someone has put some thought into it.
Thank you for the free pattern link – I have printed it out as I have a ton of Rouenneries which should work with this pattern. Will you add borders? I think I would be tempted to.

  7. The girl sitting next to me at my quilt retreat last November was making that quilt. It was stunning. I think you’ll really love it.

  11. Wow. Beautiful. You could feast your eyes on that for a loooong time and that would probably get you your money’s worth. But you’ll get a gorgeous quilt, too!

    Thanks, Gail

  17. Hi Nicole,
as much as I like the presentation of the kit and appreciate all the thoughts and work involved I could never ever justify to pay $ 31 for it (compared to the price in the Hancock’s catalogue)!:(
    I’m green with envy.

  19. LOL… when I first saw your blog titled, I thought it read “Simply Irresponsible” with a picture of the fat quarter bundle under it. I thought to myself – “Now here’s a topic to which I can relate!” I must be feeling guilty about recent purchases 🙂 I know you will put yours to great use in that quilt. I look forward to your demo of the ruler (if you do one), I have one as well – but haven’t had a use for it yet. Perhaps this pattern will do!

  21. I couldn’t resist that kit either and it arrived recently. The fabrics are wonderful and I’m looking forward to making it (or at least putting it near the top of my to do list). Right now I’m trying to decide how much Paris Flea Market fabric I need.

  23. I’ve had my eye on that quilt…maybe I’ll wait and see how hard that ruler is to use first. Country Sampler…now we’re talking…my favorite over-the-top shop!!!

  25. How funny, Country Sampler is one of my favorite quilt shops in my area (we have a lot of great ones in the Madison, WI area). Enjoy your new kit, I’ll have to restrain myself from jumping in the car!

  27. I love this line too, but only have a layer cake and a jelly roll. Can’t wait to see yours.

  31. Oh, I really like this….I’m a tad bit behind, hubby had surgery on the 17th so haven’t been able to spend any time reading blogs or sewing for that matter. LOVE this pattern and the material, hadn’t noticed that it had the yellow, very pretty. Where did you get your ruler??
