Seriously?

I got excited to make one of Carrie Nelson's new Little Bites patterns, and  since I had two packs of those mini charm squares on hand, I cut out some fabric yesterday.  "Drop" is the name of the pattern, and I plan to make the version pictured at the bottom of the pattern photo.  Adorable, right?

But what are these little red corner stone squares?  One inch?  Really?

Since those little squares are so small I can barely hold one in my  hand, this should be interesting!  I can hardly hang onto it, much less sew it.

I shall persevere however, and hope you will find my progress entertaining!

The mini charm packs I had were Chateau Rouge by French General, which I supplemented with some additional scraps from older FG collections.  The finished quilt will be 20 inches square, and perfect colors for the holidays.

Speaking of the holidays, tell me what projects you are working on to decorate your homes or to give as gifts this year.  I would love to know.    I bet my other readers would be interested too.  As for myself, I have a wool applique snowman mat that would be a great addition to my holiday decor.  Time to get moving on that!

Just so you know, I have not forgotten Halloween 1904, and cut out most of the fabric for my borders  over the weekend.  Hope you all had a splendid fall weekend!

  1. Oh my goodness! Those are tiny squares! What a sweet, holiday tabletopper Drop (or Droplet?!) will be. Good luck!
What am I working on for Christmas?
I have made but not quilted two 3 block Diamond in a Square wall hangings for my sweet MIL. AMIL wanted to make them herself but health issues in the past year make that impossible. She has two similarly sized wall hangings that flank her breakfront cabinet so these will be bestowed on her the day after Thanksgiving as an early Christmas gift! Today is her 82nd birthday!
My other project are two wall hangings I’m working on simultaneously as they are nearly alike. Several years ago Blank Quilting (Karen Combs) make a like of fabric called Shade Cascade, with 4 shades of the same color running parallel to the selvages. The pattern was could be made in several set colorways or you could mix and match to your satisfaction from the fabrics available. I chose the Woodlands green/blue/brown fabrics and am making two, slightly smaller versions of the pattern for our two sons. I’ve substituted one or more fabrics in each wall hanging to better suit that son’s preferences – and so these wall hangings are unique. You can do a Google image search and see many of the Shade Cascade quilts that others have made.
If you haven’t already done it, VOTE tomorrow!!!!
    Hugs!

  3. I look forward to hearing how you did with the tiny squares. I am making a wonky Christmas quilt which started with a panel. Just have the inner and out border to put on. Of course I am making it up as I go. I am terrible I don’t always use a pattter and if I do I change it up to suit me. I also have to make my niece her soccer jersey quilt. I drew her name for the family gift exchange so I have to get it done. yikes

  5. I am going to try and join in the AYOS this month. This will be my first month and I ordered the PDF pattern from Carrie last week. I saw that she was providing a kit for it as well, in the French General fabrics. I think those will be perfect, but I have to see what I have available in my stash. Probably will choose a charm pack and cut it up for the project. I’m putting myself on a fabric diet for awhile. I just invested waaaayyyy too much in Tapestry yardage from FQS last Friday!!

  7. I’m making a bunch of zippy strippy bags to give away. I’m using fabrics on hand, and will try to fancy them up a little with some intricate quilting. We’ll see how it goes.

  9. Oh, that IS tiny! Knowing you, the quilt will be wonderful (love the colours). 🙂
I am making a simple lap quilt for Christmas, to use on the couch – it’s just sewing 6 charm packs of Basic Grey’s Jovial together. I have bought extra fabric to sew some matching pillow covers, but I am not very confident I’ll finish them this year…

  11. Oh, tiny. I made a quilt that had very narrow sashing that used 1″ cut-size corner stones. I had to sew carefully and slowly but came out fine.
I’m working on a Christmas quilt now using Blitzen line of fabric and Jelly Stars pattern from Fig Tree Quilts.

  13. Oh…you will love making this quilt…and it will be perfect in the fabrics you’re using. I didn’t grade my seams as Carrie suggested…but wish I had…I’ve done that before with her Good Fortune pattern…and it was worth it!

  15. LOL, you are too funny! I would love to see how you put these together, I’m thinking pinning would be hard but almost necessary to keep them in place. Good luck!

  17. That is small! I haven’t started yet, but I was thinking of making that version too. Thanks for the Loaded Potato Casserole recipe. I plan on making it later in the week.

  19. Love your tiny, tiny blocks. Don’t know if I have the patience or precision to do them. Just began a disappearing 9-patch in Xmas fabric. I might be my “election” quilt as I watch the coverage this evening.
