Bonus Sewing Time

Due to a change in my babysitting schedule for Baby E, I ended up with two bonus sewing days this week!  I'm spending it working on a project that I can't share with you until the last week of March, because it is a secret 'til then.  Don't mean to be a tease…Oh yes I do!

002

This quilt I am working on has 384 half square triangles, all of which require trimming.  I like making my half square triangles a bit big and then trimming them down to size to get perfect accuracy.  (Is that redundant?  I think so).  I am down to making my last dozen quilt blocks (out of a total of 48), and am feeling pretty happy to see the end of these half square triangles in sight!

We've had a lousy week here this week with lots of rain and grey skies.  We need the rain, so that's ok, but my goodness, is Ozzie ever getting on my last nerve.  Due to the inclement weather, he has not been getting the walks he needs every day.  To punish me, he thinks up pranks to get my attention like you would not believe.

004

This is my asthma inhaler, which has been by side constantly of late.  Except for that time I left it on my desk while I went into another room to do something.  See those little tooth punctures?  Yup, Ozzie thought he would like to try out my meds.  (No, he was not successful).

006

Yes, he is thinking of jumping up on the counter.  He knows I am standing right behind him, so he is restraining himself.  I have a feeling that when I leave the house, he is into everything he can think of to get into.  He does have something of a conscience, and only does his naughty tricks when he thinks I won't catch him.

One night this week, around 3:30 AM, I heard a rythmic noise coming from the family room.  Was it knocking?  tapping?  Nope, it was Ozzie.  Digging.  He had gotten up onto the counter and filched a ripe tomato.  He was on the white couch, holding the tomato carefully in his mouth, attempting to bury it in the cushions of the couch.  My white couch.  A ripe tomato.  At 3:30 AM.

I got the tomato away from him, and there was no damage to the couch, so I have decided to let him live.

001

Ozzie, hoping the rain will end soon.

  1. I know it’s not really funny to have a sneaky, cute, miserable dog “hounding” you in a variety of ways to come play with him since the outside world is too wet. LOVE that last picture! Doesn’t that say it all?
Cheers and congratulations on finishing those bazillion HSTs and even being close to putting them all into their blocks! Well done! Love the fabrics and the colors in the HSTs that you’ve let us peek at. I wish I had your diligence.
Don’t forget to wear green tomorrow so no one will pinch you!
    Hugs!

  3. Oh, Ozzie! What a silly boy! He is such a little thief, isn’t he? We, too, have what I refer to as a ‘faux digger.’ I don’t understand HOW she thinks she can ‘bury’ things in the bed or the dining room carpet, but she gets busted ‘digging’ on a regular basis! Ozzie looks so forlorn perched on the cushion!
Kudos on your half square triangles! They look perfect and I love the color choices! Can’t wait to see the finished quilt! I’m working my way through some granny squares using Carrie’s Nine Dots fabric! 😉

  7. A TOMATO??!!! My last dog would pick tomatoes from our garden and eat them just enough so they were ruined. What is it about tomatoes?
You’re gonna have to move that chair…it is just too tempting for the little putz. ;p

  13. I love hearing about what Ozzie has been up to but me thinks that chair is too close to the counter but then we just might spoil all his fun! I can’t wait to see the quilt you are working on! I love trimming half-square triangles.

  15. Hi Nicole. I stumbled upon a really neat resource today and for some reason you popped to mind. I remember your posts on embroidery and such…and just in case you haven’t seen these before here are some really cool tutorials on every embroidery stitch under the sun. I hope the link works:

  17. Ozzie is gorgeous no wonder you can’t get cross with him. Life would be so dull without a dog to entertain us. Hope he gets his walk soon.

  19. Aw bless – that last picture is so precious! It’s such a pity dogs won’t walk themselves around the garden when it is raining… Look forward to seeing the quilt when unveiled!
