Interesting Product and Give Away

002
I was sent this product, and agreed to do a review on it, a number of weeks ago.  I have been so busy with the new job and trying to make baby quilts so my soon to be grand daughter has one for every day of the week (kind of kidding here), that I have waited shamefully long to do the review.

Any way, the product is called Lapel Stick, and resembles a glue stick in most every way.  The difference between this product and the glue sticks you can buy at stationary stores is that it is meant to be used with fabrics.

I think it would be a great product for hand applique.  I have not tried it myself, but imagine that it would be very handy for sticking small pieces in place while you stitch around them by hand.  I did try to use it for machine applique, but used too much product and ended up making my sewing machine needle all gunky.  I think if I had not secured my applique piece all the way to the edges, I would have had better success.

Back in the day when I was a preschool and kindergarten teacher, I used to make tons of felt puppets and flannel board stories, and I bet this product would have been ideal for those sorts of projects.  Wish I had had something like it back then!   It would be terrific for all sorts of fabric crafts.

The product is advertised as being useful for making shirt collars lie down in place, tacking up hems that are unravelling and even stopping runs in nylon hose.  Here is how I experimented with it.

001
This has to be one of the most annoying situations on earth.  The flap pocket that won't lie down flat.  We girls do not need any additional attention paid to our back sides, and those stubbon pocket flaps that stick up are a real problem.  I used the handy Lapel Stick, and voila, no more flippy flap issues.

003
That isn't going anywhere.  And the glue will wash out when the garment is laundered.

I am looking forward to using the Lapel Stick the next time I have a hem that is beginning to come out.  Nothing worse than putting on a pair of slacks when you are in a rush to get to work, and finding the hem on one leg is coming down.  Just slap on a bit of Lapel Stick and go on to work.  No more droopy hem.  You can do your repairs when you have the time.

I have three of these sticks to give away.  If you would like to try one, leave a comment and I will announce the three winners tomorrow.

  5. Cool! Thanks for the chance to win! ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m doing a really involved applique quilt right now, in fact. AND…I have this cute pair of linen pants with pockets that do exactly that, PLUS the inside of the pocket bubbles up. So when my shirt falls over the pockets, I look like I’m carrying eggs in my back pockets. Not a nice look for a bum.

Spoil that child – that’s why God made Grandmas.

  81. I’m a high school math teacher of struggling freshman. They notice everything and want to talk about anything to avoid doing math. I’d love to have this stick for emergency repairs for me and for my young lady students who have mishaps almost daily. I could add it to my stash of bandaids and duct tape and super glue. Hopefully in a month I will have time to quilt.
