Mocha Trails, Still Evolving

003
I am still experimenting with my Mocha Trails blocks.  I didn't get as much sewing done on Thursday as I had planned, since my husband invited me out to lunch and to a movie.  As you see, I got my fabrics cut out at least.

The movie we saw was really different.  "Hereafter" with Matt Damon.  I thoroughly enjoyed it and shed many a tear.  There are three story lines that come together at the end, with locations in San Francisco, London and Paris.  Fabulous international cast, including twin boys that were amazing.  Clint Eastwood collaborated with Stephen Speilberg (and others) to make a terrific movie.  The opening sequence, which takes place during the 2004 Tsunami will definitely grab your attention.  Incredible special effects there.

I nearly got one block together before my husband told me it was time to go!

So, here is the experimental part.  I was thinking, if I throw in a few blocks with the caramel along with the blue, then I could still use my ninepatch blocks with the caramel rectangles.

Once I get a few more blocks made, I will decide if I will go with the caramel rectangles or order a blue from the Pure collection by Sweetwater.  I am thinking I want the blues to be an accent, not a shouting statement.  We shall see.

On a different subject, I have a new blogging friend who has just started up her own blog, The Quilted Pineapple.  Please go over and welcome Linda to blogging.  She writes well and posts frequently.  You will absolutely want to see her latest quilt made from Rural Jardin fabrics.  Stunning!  Do not miss it.  I think I have enough fabric left over to make her project….

Have a great weekend, Friends.  If you get a chance, go to the movies!

  1. Nicole, thank you so much for all the kind words! I love the blue in that collection. I think I may have to get it now. It reminds me of Andrea’s blog, Under A Blue Moon! An afternoon date sounds like a good time to me!

  3. I really like the blue. Isn’t it fun to get out to a movie once in a while? I don’t do that very often, but it’s always a nice break. We usually hit a matinee, movies are so expensive these days!

  9. The blue adds so much to this grouping, and the caramel will probably look fine with the rest of the fabrics. We went to the movies yesterday as well for DHs birthday. We saw Red – fun, fun movie.
