The picture is darkish, but doesn't the table took pretty with the late afternoon sun shining through those yellow glasses? It was a puttery sort of weekend, and tasks of many sorts were accomplished. I got my kitchen put back together after the cabinet refinishing.
Who was it who recommended that I place the contents of each drawer into a separate box while the work was being done? Now that would have been a really good idea. I had everything jumbled into two gigantic boxes and it was a mess to sort out, I tell you. I got it all put back and must say the drawers look very organized. How is it that crumbs get into all drawers, even those that aren't any where near food preparation?
Ireland Update:
Son is home, sad to have had to say good bye to his Love. He won't see her again until she comes to California in August. Then, he is doing an internship at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey and finishing up his thesis. He won't be able to move to Ireland permanently until January. The red and white FriendshipLove quilt was a huge hit. Mary's Mum on Lettermullen Island (Connamara, County Galway) threatened to keep it, as they had just painted their "lounge" walls dark red and the quilt looked like it was meant to be there. Mary Ann won out though, and took the quilt home with her to her apartment in Dublin.
Oh, and remember this?
Yes, Friends, that is the missing box of books Ahren tried to take with him for his visit to Ireland. All his favorites, that he had wanted to leave with Mary Ann for safe keeping. That box of books traveled all around the world. From San Francisco to Chicago to Dublin and Dubai for all I know. We never thought we would see it again. But there is was, on our doorstep on Saturday, courtesy of American Airlines. Ahren is happy to have the books back, but not thrilled that he spent $50 to send them on vacation.
One thing that went very well was that Ozzie and Sophie got along great this past weekend. They have never played this nicely together. Lots of tussling on the carpet, lots of pretend fighting–but all done in a gentle manner. Maybe they are maturing? Here is Sophie pretending to drag Ozzie down for the kill. He is showing his big teeth, but she isn't scared. She wasn't always the aggressor. They took turns being the fierce one.
Here they are, exhausted after all that fun. They just lay where they dropped.
Have a good week everyone! Only eight more days of work for me!

Your table is set so lovely! Just perfect for company or a quiet soiree for two!

Look at those pooped-out puppy dogs. I love it.

I was wondering what the outcome of the story of Ahren and Mary was–glad to hear love continues to blossom and the quilt was a hit (as we knew it would be). So happy for them! Wow, a son is moving across the world. No wonder you want to move near your daughter!
The box that went round the world for $50. How can I get that gig?

Those two look tuckered out! I’ll bet they are happy to see each other. Glad to hear they’re getting along.

Yay! for the quilt.
Too bad Ahren can’t go back to the airlines and say they missed delivered the box and resend it for the original $50.

Thanks for the love quilt update! I didn’t want to ask..and when you didn’t mention it, I really, really didn’t want to ask–I’ll bet there are more than a few of your blog readers who felt the same way!! The days and months will fly by and it will be time for another visit before they know it! Shouldn’t American Airlines refund the $50 since it was more than obviously THEIR fault the box didn’t reach its destination?? Jan

Good news the books made it to a safe place even though it wasn’t the plan. Maybe she’ll enjoy them when she gets to come here next August. What a nice love story..quilt and all.
The pooches look fun and adorable. Previous goldens in our family would entertain us with fake dog fighting. They were brothers and knew just where the line was and never crossed it with each other but they sure sounded fierce anyway. Then they would lay down and the cats would come sleep on them.
The late afternoon table looks inviting 🙂

What a relief to have the dogs not just getting along but playing together, that’s why you got the second one! Sophie’s hair sure grows fast!
