Boo Hoo, Got Nothin’ To Do

010

Rain.  And more rain.  We are getting tired of it, Sophie and I.  She doesn't get her walks on schedule, and is going out of her mind with boredom.  Today I took her for a little ride in the car, just to get her out of the house, and she actually seemed to enjoy it.  She didn't get car sick anyway.  So, here she is, back at home, just looking out the window at the rain coming down.

On the quilt progress front, I am determined to finish up a project for a quilt designer that has a deadline coming up.  No work on any personal projects until this one is wrapped up.  This is the project for which I am using honey buns of the Happy Campers fabric by American Jane for Moda.  Very cute fabric.  The first step in construction is to make 133 strip sets.  Yes, that's right.  133.  This is what 133 strip sets looks like.

Whew.

Here is what they look like all pressed and sorted out by color.  Whew again.

The next step is to cut them up into 1,235,000  2 1/2" squares.  Even Sophie says "You're kidding, right?"

Nope.  Well, maybe just a little.  (No, really I am kidding–not THAT many!)

  5. Hey, you cracked a math joke!! Sophie sure knows how to pose for a picture! I like the looks of your pieces, I’m guessing this is the last picture we’ll see of this top super secret project…..for awhile at least.
Good for you, getting this done, Beach Cottage is calling!
Could your grass be any greener…..my grass isn’t even thinking about turning green, it’s still sound asleep……

  7. That photo of Sophis is priceless. She really looks like she is talking to you. That is certainly a lot of strip sets. What is your secret for keeping them straight and not curving? Can’t wait to see the finished product.

  9. At least using honeybuns you didn’t have to cut the WOF strips! Looking forward to seeing what this quilt ends up looking like.

  13. Hello Nicole,
How are you feeling this week?
I noticed Miss Jean’s question of how do you keep the pieces from getting curvy? I am curious as well. I am looking forward to your finished quilt. I hope you will be able to show it to us. Again, you do such nice work!! Maybe by the weekend the rain will be finished and you can have a fun time outdoors when your husband and other pet are home. Does Sophie miss them too?

  15. I love how this follows your Spring Has Sprung post yesterday. Mother Nature just likes messing with us like that.
Sophie looks like she has a mouthful of quilt in that first picture…? She must really be bored. 🙂
Can’t wait to see what you’re doing with the million+ 2 1/2″ inch squares.
