I hope you all had a lovely long weekend! Wow, both Valentine's Day and Presidents' Day–will riches never cease?
Thank you all so much for your good wishes on my speedy recovery from sinus surgery. I was pretty miserable the first two days, but after that I was on the mend. My husband kept referring to referring to the gauze packing on my nose as my "baffle", whatever that is, and seemed ever so slightly self conscious to be seen in public with me, but out in public we went on Sunday. After having my eye swollen shut a couple of weeks ago, a big gauze beak over my nose didn't seem like a big deal to me. "Mommie, oh Mommie! That lady has a big boo boo on her nose!" was the worst of it.
And yesterday? No more gauze needed at all. My nose has settled down and is behaving, and my husband and I headed off for a lovely drive in the country. The golden hills of California are velvety green, and the flowering almonds and plum trees are in full bloom. I love this time of year! We had the warmest day of the year so far, with temperatures nearly in the 70s. Blue skies, fluffy clouds, happy cows, and Ozzie by our side. Oh, we will get more rain, but yesterday reminded us of why we live in California.
I did get some sewing in on Saturday and Sunday. I worked on more of my RCBBs (Ridiculously Cute Basket Blocks) and also the Mocha Trails blocks.
These blocks from the pattern Mocha Trails by A Graceful Stitch are really fun to make in different combinations of fabrics. My favorite sort of quilt, with each block a new trio of fabrics in the same color palette. These neutrals are so soothing. If you haven't made a neutral colored quilt, give it some consideration.
Today I am back to my doctor, to have my inner sinus packing removed. That sounds dreadful, but it will be good to get the last of the foreign materials out of my head so I can get back to normal breathing, smelling and tasting!

So glad you’re feeling better.
Can’t wait to see the finished quilts.

Happy to hear you enjoyed your weekend despite the nose “boo boo.” Love the neutrals.

People probably thought your baffle was the result of some rhinoplasty 🙂
It was a gorgeous weekend in CA, wasn’t it? We were hot down here in SoCalif at 80 degrees but loving it. It is wonderful to see the hills sooooo green. Glad you had a Happy Valentine’s Day. Love the blocks!

Glad to have you back, Nicole. Yours is one of the few blogs I check daily…I even check weekends though I know you don’t usually post then.
Glad to hear how nicely your recovery is going. I hope there are no more nasal/sinusy issues.

Nice looking Mocha Trails blocks. I agree, it’s fun to make blocks with the same color placement. You’re making progress.
Glad your nose is feeling better also. And I am envious of your spring weather! I used to live out off HWY 50 between Sac and Tahoe and man alive, the green in spring was always gorgeous. My favorite time of year. Especially with all the budding trees. We’ve had some warmer “springlike” weather this week, and by that, I mean we’ve hit 40 a time or two. It feels wonderful, but I’m not tricked into believing Spring is around the corner for us. I know there’s some snow out there still.
Good luck at your doctors appt today. You’ll feel great and back to your old self soon!

I’m soooo jealous of it being spring there. That won’t happen here for months.
Those blocks are looking very yummy. The neutrals do seem to be very soothing.

Happy to hear you are feeling better. Now I have a better idea what to expect when I have my surgery.

Yeah, glad to hear from you. I ‘ve been wondering how it was going. Glad you’re on the mend.

Spring…lucky you. Spring is just around the corner for us but it can’t get here soon enough, it’s been a tough winter, we STILL have snow on the ground.
I’m so glad you felt like sewing this weekend, your neutral blocks are lovely. I have a neutral BOM accumulating in a project box. I think I’ll get that out after wrapping up Faceted Jewels.
Hope all went well with your appointment today.

That gorgeous flowering tree photo sure caught my eye – living here in dreary western Nebraska, where we only have dirty snow piles on the ground. But your NOSE story was just so entertaining (at your expense!). Good to know you are on the mend!

Glad you’re feeling better. An ENT once recommended that I have sinus surgery. The thing that stopped me was the thought of all that packing up my nose. Just thinking of it made me claustrophobic.
I love your blocks.
