Flying Hard to Catch Up

001

Note:  No, I have not taken up smoking.  Isn't that a funny trick to the eye though?  My pin cushion looks like an ashtray and my seam ripper is my ciggie.  lol  Disgusting habit~!

Thelma and Lisa and I are all working on a Miss Rosie pattern called Toulouse simultaneously.  We are all at about the same stage of construction and decided to do our Reveal on this Friday.  Only I am a few steps back from them.  Consequently, I am flying to catch up (heh heh) and get my flying geese borders on in the next day or so.

We all are loving this quilt.

Miss Rosie patterns are so brilliant.  Well thought out, tested, and succinctly written.  Love them.  Here I have 19 flying geese units per side border, and wouldn't you think the odds are that they would be somewhat "off"?  Well, they just aren't.  They match up perfectly, in spite of the 18 scant quarter inch seam allowances per border unit.  The borders just fit.  Ta da.  (Happy dance all over the house, wine glass raised, toasting the incomparable Carrie Nelson!  Woo Hoo!"

I won't show you any more just yet, but will wait 'til Friday so you can see all three of our Toulouse quilts at the same time.

Here is Sophie, sitting in a chair all by herself in the living room.  She is wearing her pouty face.  I told her, "Grumpus, Grumpus, take a bus.  Don't come back and bother us".  She is mad because I finally pitched her out of the room where I was trying to lay out the flying geese border pieces.  I got very tired of her snatching geese units and running off with them, or just jumping into them, making mincemeat of my careful placement.  Go ahead and pout you big baby.

Check this Snowball Challenge quilt out.  Made by Jen of My Creative Threads.  A green and white version!  How beautiful!  Go Jen!!!

  5. I love Carries patterns too, even the ones that I’ve done that I found challenging were pretty easy to follow and the results so worth he effort. And once again Nicole you are tempting me to do another one of hers!
These days I have the challenge of my 2nd dd’s cats that have moved in with her. They have been banned from my studio 🙂

  7. I love the colors. What a sad little girl. My baby will lay beside me and cry. It is to much. I break and give him what he wants. Stay strong I can not wait to see it complete.

  15. Oh my Nicole… when your blog first opened up….I thought, why does she have a cigarette and ash tray sitting on her quilt, lol. Guess I need another cup of coffee to wake up. Can’t wait until friday to see the completed quilts. Take care and hope the eye is doing better.

  17. I can hardly wait to see your finished quilt, it will be as much of a surprise to me as to everyone else! I agree, Carrie’s patterns are hard to top, but I think the quilter deserves some credit for those geese flying in perfect formation down the sides of your quilt.
I tell ya’ , dogs sure can show their emotions without uttering a word, Sophie does look peeved, adorable, but peeved!
No sun here today, I’m hoping for a good day between now and Friday to photograph Toulouse, I want her to look her best!!

  19. I can’t wait to see your quilts. I got my Toulouse pattern in the mail yesterday. I have a few (slight exageration here) projects to finish first but I can’t wait to start thinking of fabrics and then to make it. Any hints? When I looked at the pattern I was a little intimidated as I thought by the time I get around to the edge I’ll be off and nothing will fit. You are giving me hope!
