The Real Deal

My mailbox was certainly full of treasures this week!  Remember my tantrum about a certain shop that sent me a collection of fat quarters that were supposed to be raspberry pink, but turned out to be purple, blue and everything but raspberry?  Well, Allyson in Alaska read my rant and sent me a collection of true raspberry batiks that are so beautiful I cannot wait to turn them into a quilt.

Honestly some people are so generous!  These fabrics are so unbelievably yummy, my photo doesn't really do them justice.  Look how she folded and tied them!  Isn't that appealing?  So much better than the wadded up presentation the shop sent.  These are almost too pretty to unwrap.  Almost…..

Another generous friend, Lisa, sent me a collection of raspberry batiks she had leftover from a recent project, so as far as fabric goes, I think I am all set.  All I need to do now is to choose a pattern.  Any suggestions?

  1. I know I’ve said this before, but quilters are very special people. Not only do we all want our own fabrics, patterns, notions and everything that goes with the craft, but we all want every other quilter to have them too. I’m just so proud to be a part of this select group. The generosity and thoughtfulness warms my heart. Way to go Allyson and Lisa. This is truly what quilting is all about. Ummm when you do finally take the ribbon off and look through them, please fondle them just a tad for me Nicole LOL. I can’t wait to see what project you make with these scrumptous batiks. ***sigh*** What a wonderful way to start off our day!!! Thanks for sharing this with us.

  3. Oh Nicole, I’m thrilled. No idea on the pattern but if I know you, you’ll come up with the perfect way to utilize these most irresistible fabrics. Allyson has such taste and class!

  5. I LOVE those fabrics. I think the pattern yellow brick road would be a great way to show off all of the beautiful colors.

  7. Hi Nicole-
Really like your blog. I especially like the basket quilt you used to have across the header. I think you said it was a Fig Tree pattern but I haven’t been able to find it. Are there any other pictures of it on your blog? I miss seeing it when I visit now. Not that all your creations aren’t beautiful…

  9. Oh my goodness…I don’t know about a pattern. I should think that Batiks take a little more consideration that “ordinary” fabric. Those are some really beautiful fabrics. I would want to just lay them out and look at them and touch them…for several days before I even put one edge of the rotary to them. It’s hard to cut into gorgeous fabric like that. Good luck on choosing your project and keep us posted.
