Shameless Copying

IMG_2421

Remember the fabric Wuthering Heights by 3 Sisters for Moda that came out a couple of years ago?  I had an entire bundle of it that was totally neglected because I was procrastinating about cutting into it.  I didn't want to do the same quilt everyone else was making out of this fabric, and I could not settle on anything I liked better, so the bundle sat on the shelf in the stash closet.  Thank God fabric doesn't go bad, as my sister Kate likes to say.

So, as time went by, I pretty much forgot all about Wuthering Heights.  Until this weekend.  I am a big fan of Carrie Nelson (Miss Rosie's Quilt Company), as you know if you are a regular reader here.  Carrie has a great blog called La Vie En Rosie, which I visit regularly.  Well, Carrie mentioned a blog she enjoys called Simplify, which is written by Camille Roskelley, who is a fabric designer for Moda.  Actually she and her mom work together.  Camille and her mother Bonnie designed the fabulous collection Cotton Blossoms for Moda, and have a new line coming out called Simple Abundance.  Both women have their own pattern companies, Cotton Way and Thimble Blossoms.  Do check out both their links.  If you don't have any Cotton Blossoms in your fabric stash, you had better hurry while you can still get it!

I am totally digressing from what I started out to share with you.  Carrie designed a pattern called Summer Wind and Camille made it up in the fabric Wuthering Heights.  Carrie suggested that everyone go look at Camille's post of January 26 to see how the quilt turned out.  Let me just say that this quilt is knock down, take your breath away, make your hair curly, GORGEOUS.  And of course now I have to make one just like Camille's.  While my husband watched the Super Bowl, I worked on the center medallion of the quilt, which you see pictured above. There are a bunch of additional scrappy borders to add on and the quilt will finish at around 76".  Stay tuned for more progress on this one!

Seriously, go have a look at Camille's blog!  I found myself engrossed for ages goggling at her amazing projects and adorable family.

  1. I love that fabric! I had just started quilting when it was just about to go off the shelves. So I never was able to get any of it! :~(

  3. I love any fabric line by 3 Sisters! I also have several charm packs of Wuthering Heights. I have also been waiting to do something with it.
I am also a huge Camille fan. I won her giveaway awhile back and I have finished my quilt top. I just need to baste it and quilt, then I will post pictures of it.

  5. I saw this quilt posted on Camille’s blog and like you, I was blown away. I think I ended up with 2 bundles of Wuthering Heights and this may be something I do with one of them. Just gorgeous, soft and romantic.

  7. Isn’t Camille’s blog and her family adorable, I love them, and your quilt will look just as lovely. It is so nice to be inspired by others, and I certainly include you in that category. Thanks.

  9. Camille’s blog is great, isnt it? I saw that quilt…and thought about it…but Ive already got a huge quilt I did in Wuthering Heights two years ago…plus the fabric is near impossible to get these days.
They do say copying is the highest form of flattery. And yours looks fab!

  11. I loved the Wuthering Heights collection and used it to make Miss Rosie’s Elizabeth Pattern. My oldest daughter claimed that quilt. I made Summer Wind with the Seaside Rose collection and now I’m thinking I need to make that quilt again with a different collection. Camille’s blog is so inspiring and so is yours 🙂
