I recently had to pick up and pay for four quilts that had been sitting at my favorite quilters for far too long. A word of advice: Do not ever let quilts stack up at the quilter's. The amount of money it takes to get them out of hock is enough to make your hair turn curly, grey, and fall out. One at a time, that is my new mantra. One at a time.
That being said, here are some pictures of a couple of the finished quilts.
This is Candle in the Window, made with Snow Blooms by Kansas Troubles for Moda. It is going to be a Christmas gift for Grandpa Larry. The quilting is terrific. Here is a closer look.
This next one is a jelly roll pattern, and please forgive me, I have no memory of where the heck the pattern came from. I know I made it bigger than the pattern called for, and that the fabrics are Moda, probably also Kansas Troubles by the look of them. Brother, this is pathetic. Too many quilts, I tell you.
This one will be a Christmas gift for Grandma Mimi. Here's a close up of the quilting.
People are always telling me that quilting is a very expensive craft. The truth of that came home to me when I had to pay for all this exquisite quilting. But you know what? Some things are just worth the sacrifice!

But these are Christmas gifts, so that expense doesn’t “count”, right?!?! This cost comes out of the Christmas budget, not the quilting fund!!

Yes, marvelous quilting IS absolutely worth what it costs… every single penny!

The quilts are beautiful, Nicole. And anyway, beans and weenies are good.

NIcole, the quilts are great! Bravo.

I love both of them!!! I always say that quilting is cheaper than going to therapy and way more fun! :~) It is how I relax and unwind from life for a bit.
With your talent you should buy a mid-arm machine and then you could do your own quilting. It would pay for itself after awhile.

I think the quilt you dont’ have the memory of is from Strip Happy quilting on a Roll by Donna Kinsey. it’s called Simply Squared.

As always, the quilts are beautiful. The quilting is also just perfect. You’ve obviously found someone who is very talented and knows how to add to the beauty of what you have already done.
Are you going to PIQS?

I love your quilts. All of them. I have been pouring over your old posts since I found your site, and we have very similar tastes in pattern and fabric choices. A kindred spirit! I was wondering what you did with all of them…if you gave them away. I always love the one I just finished, and it will take me a year or more to consider giving it away! Usually because it’s been replaced by something I love better.
I’ve never paid to have quilting done, but I think it’s something I’ll consider…if I can find a quilter in this small town. I’m ashamed to say it, but I have a Gracie Pro quilting machine IN A BOX that I’ve had for 3 years. I don’t want to give up the space it will take to set it up. Perhaps I should sell it, and use the money as a fund to pay a quilter. Good idea!

It’s not pathetic to create so many wonderful things. I have a great long arm quilter too and it’s worth every penny I give to her. Luckily I am not as prolific in the creating department as you are so I’m not in hock to her yet.
