Designer Mystery Block of the Month Club

Still on the subject of Block of the Month Clubs, I want to share with you all another BOM I am participating in.  This one is called The Designer Mystery BOM and uses the fabric collection Peace on Earth by 3 Sisters for Moda.  I was late getting started with this project and had four blocks stacked up to make.  Determined to catch up, I dived into the project with gusto this past weekend.  I started in no particular order.  I think that is Block Three below.  Notice, as I commented yesterday how complete the instruction sheet is, and how it includes a color photo of what the block will look like.

A half hour later I had my block finished.

And then the next:

And the next…

I was so happy, zipping through these blocks in one day.  Only one more to make and I would be all caught up!

Oh no oh no oh no oh no.  I have turned my sewing room upside down and inside out. I have gone through the trash, looked under the bed, behind the sewing machine and I cannot find that one segment.  I thought Sophie had snatched something at one point during the afternoon, and got up and went into the family room and asked my husband "Did Sophie just dash by with something in her mouth?"  No, he didn't think so.

Now I am up the creek.  I only had enough of that green print fabric to make four green and white segments.  Help!  Can anyone send me a 3 1/2 square of that fabric so I can finish my block?  I will be in your debt forever!     I'll trade a charm pack of Dandelion Girl for it, how about that?

  1. You’re on a roll, my friend. And ahead of me. I was doing so well with the first 3, but September’s block fell by the wayside. Now I may as well wait until I get October’s and do both at once.

  3. I haven’t cut mine out yet. But, I could do it today, if you still need some. Just let me know.
Another BOM that I haven’t started yet. I really need to get these Halloween and fall projects done! So that I can get going on these BOM’s!

  5. Whew! I am so glad someone has some of the fabric for you!
You go, girl, getting those blocks done so fast, and while working full time!
How is the job going, anyway?

  7. Yesterday you inspired me to get MY set of these blocks out. I’ve put them with the things that I’m taking to the quilt retreat this weekend and hope to post my pics next Monday!

  9. Wow! you completed these so fast! I’ve been waiting for the mood to hit me to work on them. I’m going to a retreat next month and I think this will be one of my projects. I just LOVE the Peace on Earth fabric line!

  11. Your blocks are great. It is such a blessing when things go together quickly and easily. Glad to hear that others have offered to replace your missing fabric. Have a great day!

  15. I was being so cocky with my Designer Mystery Block of the Month blocks. I was caught up with blocks one through three made. Then I got #4 in the mail. Then I got Block 1 for Simply Sophisticated. Thought I would do those two together this week. What was in the mail today? Block #5! Where did the month go? I better get working!
I’m glad you’ve had such a good responce to get the fabric you need. I’m sure it will turn up just as you finish the block. Murphy’s Law.

  17. I did join this BOM and I am ashamed to say I haven’t even made Block #1. Maybe that’s why I don’t join BOMs very often – I don’t keep up with them!

  19. December 25, 2009: I received a kit of the 12 Blocks for the 2008 Designer BLock of the Month (FatQuartershop.com) this Christmas (2009) as a gift. Unfortunately, FQS no longer has or sells the finishing kit and/or instructions. I would love to have a copy of the finishing instructions if anyone would trade or share. The fabric is so beautiful.
