Friday Finish #2 and Peace With Ozzie

IMG_1089

Here is Ozzie, still sitting on a pile of Posh fabric and chewing on his bone.  He is behaving though, and keeping right next to me on the bed next to my sewing machine.  For now, the devil horns have been replaced by a halo.  I guess he really likes this fabric line.  I had a pile of Posh scraps ready to send to my friend Lisa, and Ozzie hopped right up on them and made himself at home.  Still want them Lisa?  (Yes, that is a piece of rawhide bone in the foreground).  Perhaps I should save some of the scraps out and make him a little Posh cuddle quilt to remember our first big fight.  We worked out our issues yesterday, after he made a royal mess of my carefully laid out pieces.  I forgave him and he let me work in peace today.

Um, so what did I learn?  Close the door to the design bed, and no more slime bones.  It isn't Ozzie's fault.  Just look at the experession in those soulful eyes.  His entire being is focused on trying to understand me, and a little hurt that he may have failed somehow.  He tries to be good, and is completley mystified when I blow a gasket over some weirdo thing he can't comprehend.  Honestly, if we are lucky, he will be my companion for good dozen or so years.  So, shouldn't it behoove me to make the most of them?  My promise to Ozzie:  more play time, more cuddles and more understanding on my part of what it is that will make your life more meaningful.  Aside from tormenting me that is.  My heart swells.

Balance.  That is what we need.  More balance.  Time for Ozzie, time for sewing. And on that note, I have a Friday reveal!

Ta da!  My second Friday Finish.  Can't promise I will keep this up all summer, but I am sure going to try.  Gotta get these quilts out.  But not at the expense of neglecting Ozzie.  He is a high maintenance little guy, and I was the one who brought him into my life.  We need to make some compromises.

Note on the quilt top.  The inspiration was a book called Basket Bonanza by Nancy Mahoney, but I did my own thing by combining several ideas from the book and making the quilt bed sized.  Fabric is Posh by Chez Moi for Moda.

  1. LOVE it. Stunning. Are you still going to add the little triangle to the binding?
It’s going to live at my house someday, right? ^_^
I am defrosting marrow bones in the fridge and will bring them down tonight for a special “quiet activity” treat for ozzie and Remikins.
    three cheers for shrimp.

  7. Another gorgeous creation! And I’m so glad you and Ozzie have made peace. Yes, you need time together for the fun and then he can deal with the off-limits areas you must set for his good. And your peace. ~Adrienne~

  9. Beautiful quilt – spectacular, in fact! And I’m glad you are back in Ozzie’s good graces. Or whichever way ’round it is.
My Finish is a quilt I don’t even like, but it’s going to be put to good use, so it was worth finishing.

  33. Nicole your quilt turned out beautiful. I wasn’t a big fan of Posh in the beginning but I truly have fallen in love with it. Great job.

  35. I L.O.V.E. those fabric. If I was a cute single chick with a swanky loft I would plaster them all over my pad and invite my girls over for cocktails!

  37. Nichole, I have had a crazy busy week, so this is the first I have caught up with you. 1- Yeah, for the book name…big thanks there! 2- I laughed at your demon from hell comment….funny comment, not funny bone incident, 3- I am loving this arrangement of the baskets with the edges a bit different. You have such good taste. Have a good weekend.

  39. I love how your quilt turned out. It’s beautiful. You’ve inspired me to get some of my UFQs done. So far I’m still one quilt #1.

  41. I love your baskets and Posh is a current favorite – I made myself a quilt a while back with jelly rolls. And I made a cute bag just this week. So glad your puppy let you finish up!

  47. The quilt is absolutely stunningly beautiful. You’ve given me inspiration to expand my fabric choices. The colors in the quilt just sing.
Glad Ozzie is having a good week. He is really a good boy. I just think maybe he has a little adhd like my grandson. They just get a little ahead of themselves sometimes, but they are soooooo loveable!

  49. Well DONE!!! If you can’t find a home for it, I’ve got a bed it will fit… just sayin’.
You are a better woman that I am, I’d have kicked Ozzie outta the house already, probably after the orange shoe or the lipstick personally.LOL We have cats that do things like that but not nearly as destructive but the dogs are mostly outdoors(black labs) so they don’t wreak much havoc.

  51. Your quilts-and your home-are beautiful. And I love Ozzie. We have a devil dog at our home also who goes by the seemingly innocent name of Buddy. He loves my daughter’s shoes (how does he know the difference between Coach and Wal-Mart shoes?). His favorite snack is any notion on my sewing table and enjoys the game we call “look what I have in my mouth!”

She does love fabric on the floor…or the table, or the cutting table…..or a lid left off a crate….heaven on a stick. Look Mummy I am sleeping…
    Yeah……….till I see you brat!
