I’ve been too busy to sew the past week, plus the weather has been too nice to be cooped up inside! We spent all day Saturday out in the garden and look what is going on out there! The photo above is our wisteria, not very well situated in a back corner of the yard. It blooms its heart out every March, and in order to see it, you have to go out there and hunt for it behind shrubs and a couple of trees. I think it smells like Tea Berry gum, if anyone out there in blogland is old enough to remember that!
This gorgeous blue stuff is blooming trailing rosemary! Who knew that the rosemary flower was so lovely? Isn’t the color amazing? It just trails down out of a big planter box. It is actual rosemary, that you can snip off and put in your cooking. I haven’t tried eating the flowers though, so I cannot recommend it.
This bush is called Bridal Veil for some reason. No idea why really. It isn’t bridal colored, but it is sure pretty. It is a huge bush and is just covered with these tiny pink flowers.
My husband got the impatiens all planted, and I cannot wait for them to do their colorful thing in a month or so. In a matter of weeks, this pot will be just jammed with flowers in every bright color impatiens come in.
I bought lots of baskets of hanging geraniums from the nursery. I have four shepherd’s hooks that hold two hanging baskets each. You just have to be sure the two baskets are of equal weight, or it is the teeter totter syndrome, where the heavier side keels over.
This is my garden gazing ball. I can sit outside and see the garden reflected in it, and do all sorts of deep contemplation.
Here I am in my comfy garden chair, contemplating my Posh Basket blocks that I should be sewing, and here’s Ozzie, contemplating his next meal. Have I remarked lately, how grateful I am to live in California?

What a beautiful garden you have. Don’t you just love living in California? I have lived in Southern California all my life and I can’t imagine living anyplace else. Well, yes I can, Northern California! Love it there too! Yet another cute Ozzie picture! Thanks for sharing!

Everything looks beautiful Nicole. It will be another month here before I can put out impatiens, and before my azaleas bloom, that is if they aren’t all dead from the horrid winter we had. And more before my lillies bloom. When we lived on the Gulf Coast I had flowers this early, and I do miss that. Looks to me like Ozzie is contemplating how long it is going to be before you move your leg, lol.

Beautiful garden. If you had been to Maine lately you would be even more grateful you live in California. We can’t seem to get rid of our snow and with the exception of yesterday the temperature has been in the 30’s.

Your garden is lovely, Nicole. One thing that I definitely did NOT inherit from my mama and grandmother is a green thumb. The struggles with weeds and bugs and drought defy me. I’m just no good at it. Plus I hate getting my hands dirty. But I do love a pretty garden.

Beautiful flowers! I’m very interested in your “bridal veil”. All of the bridal veils that I have had have been planted in hanging baskets because they have been a creeping plant. They are beautiful when full of blooms and hanging down from the basket…no bush variety. Oh yeah, they’re white too. I’d LOVE to have a bush variety. Now I must search.

Good for you for intervening for your MIL — it’s amazing how badly we treat folks who we should be honoring! LOVE the baskets and the other fabric goodies and your student’s quilt is wonderful!

Beautiful garden photos…go ahead and gloat…we still love you here in the midwest where there is NOTHING blooming yet. Maybe if I click my heels together three times and say, “There’s no place like California….” Probably not…only works in movies with munchkins and yellow brick roads. Enjoy, enjoy. And keep posting photos so we can live vicariously.
