I’ve mentioned the difficulty I am having with constructing my pink and brown star blocks for my Raise the Roof quilt. The blocks take forever to lay out properly and there are many ways to make errors in the orientation and position of the block elements. I have been procrastinating about sitting down and facing those star blocks. I even spent a couple of hours cleaning my bedroom closet to avoid the star block task (more about that in another post).
At last I told myself I owed it to my blogging friends (thanks guys) to sit down for at least an hour and try to get some of those blasted star blocks made. I plugged in the trusty iPod and cranked up the tunes, and sat down in front of the Bernina to get some work done. I fussed and fumbled along with Fleetwood Mac, I dithered and dottered along with the Doors, and finally hit my stride with…..Queen. You would never know it unless you tried it, but the perfect rhythm for cranking out those star blocks is the great tune "Fat Bottomed Girls" by Queen. I never realized that Freddy Mercury was a quilter’s friend, but just look what he helped me accomplish.

The blocks are gorgeous–and your choice of tunes is pretty fine too.

Way to go! The blocks are great. I can see how rocking out to Queen could help with sewing. Personally, I tend to lean toward Bon Jovi. :oD

Yep, yep, yep – Queen would do it!! Everyone laughs at me for listening to them, but hey! Them, the Doors, FM, a little Chicago — that’s Prime Music there….rock on!

I always quilt to music. I’m afraid my choice is a bit louder and heavier though. I’m a Deep Purple fan

I wonder if actually being a fat bottomed girl will help me get some organizing done.

I just love the blocks! Music can make anything fun! Looks like the IPod is definitely a must have for quilters! I know I love mine.

My personal favorite for grooving while quilting is Jesus Christ Superstar. Although sometimes I go for a mix of oldies – Frank Sinatra, Rod Stewart’s Great American Songbooks, Tony Bennett, and anything by Billy Joel.

Great work! Way to go! The blocks looks wonderful! And now I know what to listen to whenever I’m in a slump over a difficult block :o) Even though I usually find some comfort in Johnny Cash when I quilt *lol*
