Ever since I finished my Provence Baskets quilt top, I can’t stop yearning to use those bright primary colors again in another quilt. When I see Darlene’s Cherries Jubilee blocks, it turns this yearning feeling into a complete obsession. I don’t have the entire Cherries Jubilee bundle (boy, was that ever short sighted of me), but I do have quite a few fat quarters from that group, as well as a number of fat quarters of the Apple Pie collection. Cherries Jubilee and Apple Pie were both designed for Moda by Sandy Klop, and coordinate marvelously with one another. That is one reason I am such a devoted Moda fan. Their designers consistently come up with fabric collections that work perfectly with previous season’s groups, so it is easy to combine lines.
I have been toying with a lot of ideas as to how to best use these colorful fabrics and have decided that a simple approach will be the best. Cutting up these adorable prints into itty bitty pieces would be a shame. The sweet retro simplicity of the fabric design cries out for a simple block treatment that will show off the prints.
Not that I am ungrateful for my day job, but I have a fantasy that I consider often. I think my dream job would be to be in a position to have a preview of upcoming fabric groups and be asked by a big name fabric company to come up with a pattern design to focus their new collections. I work fast and have a lot ideas: anybody want to hire me?

I understand exactly how you feel about those prints! They are yummy. I still can’t believe that I missed Cherries Jubilee and am so happy that I managed to get some of it recently. I can’t wait to see what you come up with.

Those two lines go together beautifully! I can see why you are obsessing – I can’t wait to see what you come up with to show off all those cute prints!

Such lovely colorful fabric. I notice Darlene’s friend Monica has used some of these in her lovely quilt. It showcases them perfectly.
Whatever you come up wit will be great. I can’t wait to see it 🙂

Love the fabrics. They remind me of my feedsack/floursack collection, which I inherited from my husband’s grandmother. I’ll have to show them on my blog soon.
