Celebrate Spring Fat Quarter Challenge

My friend Darlene at Quilting Daze has a lot of good ideas.  One day not too long ago, she emailed me to say she had a thought….no, she wouldn’t tell me….well OK, she would…. This is more or less what she said:  "Since we have such incredibly similar taste in quilt projects, how would it be if we agreed upon a fatquarter bundle and challenge each other to do something fun with it–keep it a secret from one another, post little blog teasers on our progress, and surprise each other with our different quilt tops at an agreed upon deadline?" 

Did that sound like a fun idea to me?  You bet it did!  I hope you will agree as well, dear friends, and check in every Monday in May to see what we have accomplished on our respective projects.  Our deadline for the Challenge is May 31, and with luck, there will be an unveiling of two completely different quilt tops on that date!  Since Darlene and I do have remarkably shared tastes, there is always the chance we will come up with the exact same end product, but what are the odds of that happening?

The fatquarter group we chose for our Fat Quarter Challenge is a brand new design from Sandy Gervais for Moda Fabrics, called Celebrate Spring.  The colors are yummy clear sherbet tones of turquoise, yellow, light green, pink, coral, cream and a touch of red.  Sandy Gervais consistently designs whimsical, seasonal fabric lines that never fail to delight.  This group is no exception, and we hope you will enjoy the process of seeing our quilt tops come together right along with Darlene and I!  At the Grand Unveiling on May 31, we will share the patterns that we used for our projects. 

Who knows, if this is as much fun as I think it is going to be, it may become an annual event?  Are you up for that Darlene?

  19. Let the fun begin! I had to do a rush posting on my blog this morning. My computer was down till this morning and I lost the better pictures of the fabric that I had. grrr.
    This is going to be so much fun! And, yes, absolutely this should be an annual event.
