Thrift Store Finds

I am changing my mind about thrift stores.  Thanks to a couple of my favorite blogs (Daisy Cottage & Romantic Home), I have been tempted to set foot into my local second hand stores, with very happy outcomes.  In the past, I would walk past these places, thinking disdainfully that the real estate would be better used and the local shoppers better served by establishments that sold NEW merchandise.  Well, all I have to say is "Thanks Kim and Cindy, for opening my eyes to a whole new form of entertainment!"  I have been missing out on a lot of potentially great stuff.  I got the silver plate pitcher above at my local Goodwill store for pennies, and was then encouraged to walk down the block to check out the Cancer Society benefits store, where they were having a half off sale.  There will be no turning back for me now, I am hooked for sure.  I found this four piece tea set for $59:

  1. I love thrif stores and flea markets. Not that I frequent them often, but when I see one I stop in to look around. I bought a treadle from an individual who sold used items for what I consider cheap. It came with all of the attachments as well as everything the lady (Estate of Esther Fisher) kept in the drawer. I had a great time rummaging throught it all. Amazing the recycling they did back then. Have fun with your new hobbie!
