A Change Gonna Come

003

I had to share my daffodil bouquet with you all.  It was my Springtime treat for myself.  The weather has been so lovely this week, that I decided to bring out even more Easter decorations, including my Suicide Bomber Bunny.  That is what Dad called him when he saw him.  Honestly.  My decorations don't get half the respect they deserve.

The thing you see projecting up in the background, to the left of the green candle, is my vacuum cleaner.  I had just vacuumed and washed the floors in the kitchen and gotten my tablescape all arranged and forgot to move it before I took the picture.

I am cleaning my house from top to toe.  Strategic rooms anyway.  You see, a contractor is coming to visit us tomorrow afternoon to go through the house and see a list of things we need to refurbish, spruce up, or replace.  As Sam Cooke said, "It's been a long, a long time coming but I know a change gonna come, yes it will".

Mmmm hmmm.  We need to redo our kitchen cabinets, replace some of the kitchen appliances, replace the carpet (Oh Lordy, do we need to replace the carpets), fix some broken tiles, paint the exterior of the house, get new faucets in all the bathrooms, repair some drywall, and I can't even remember what all else.  My husband is going to try to get here from San Francisco by the time the guy arrives, but if he doesn't, well then, I am on my own.  Wish me luck.

To keep Sophie busy while I did my housework, I bought her a new chew/tug toy.  It is a big tiger head with a rope handle and one appendage that is another rope with a tennis ball on the end of it.  I thought it would keep her occupied and away from attacking my vacuum cleaner and mop for awhile during my cleaning rampage.

Silly me.  She immediately took that brand new toy right out into the back yard and buried it somewhere.  Ack.  Well, the digging must have tuckered her out, because she is now smiling happily and making herself flat, which she does when she is worn out.

Have a good weekend friends!  Hope you can feel Spring in the air wherever you are!

  1. Everything about this post cracked me up! The suicide bomber bunny is hilarious. Sophie burying her new toy is priceless. Does she remember where it is and eventually dig it up? And the way she is laying makes my legs and hips hurt. How do dogs do that? And great description….making herself flat. Sounds like you’ve had a productive week. Good luck with the contractor guy. Be sure to take before and after pictures. Have a great weekend!

  5. I always thought that they shouldn’t just have showers for newlyweds. They should have them for people, like me, who have been married for over 30 years and their houses need some sprucing up or they need some better dishes or new towels, etc. I just need to convince someone to throw one of these parties for me!

  11. Must be something in the air – we too are having our carpets (at least the living room and hallways) replaced with wood flooring and, just because the baseboards have to come off anyway, the apartment is also going to get a much needed paint job. I’m looking forward to the finished product but now all the moving around of furniture (and about a thousand books) that needs to proceed it.

  15. I can’t wait to see what you do. I would love to do my kitchen cabinets. They are stock light oak and I would love to paint them. I love spring cleaning.
Maggie lays like that. I don’t know how they do it. It hurts to just look at it!
