A Valentine to Myself

004

This is a little Valentine to myself.  It is a Little Bites pattern by Miss Rosie's Quilt Company, and is called "Drop".  The quilt  measures 20 inches square, and is made from Chateau Rouge fabrics by French General for Moda.  The pattern has three versions for the quilt, and I chose to make the largest.

I started this just before Christmas and made perhaps seven little blocks.  The project got put away during the holiday as things do,  due to house guests, major tidying, and no time to sew anyway.  I pulled it out last weekend and finished up the remaining blocks in no time.  This project is made entirely of two inch squares (except for the lattice and borders).  I had a mini charm pack or two, which I made use of for this little table topper.  The fabrics for my lattice, borders and backing were all in my French General stash.  I think the fabric for the border is from their Maison de Garance collection, so you can see their stuff all "goes" with each other from season to season.

Here is a close up, which I am not ashamed to show you.  Dare I say it?  My machine quilting is getting noticably better!

This is the first Little Bites project I have completed, and certainly will not be the last.  I think the mini quilt bug has bitten me hard.

For those of you who have been inquiring about Ozzie, he is alive and well.  If you look closely in the top photo he is lounging in the chair in front of his observation window.  For once being good and not teasing the life out of me.

  1. I love your Valentine to yourself Nicole. I have all the Little Bites patterns but haven’t made any of them yet, but I will soon. I really like how your Drop quilt came out perfect in the French General fabrics. Good job on the quilting too. I just started a new Schnibbles quilt from a not so new pattern called Jacks.

  3. Very fun! I see you have turned around your “I’m not getting anything done” in the quilting arena. Next year you’ll have to have four or five posts to review what you’ve completed…

  5. How delightfully charming this little quilt is! What size are the blocks? They must be small and those cornerstones and block centers must be tiny.
Love your crisscross quilting in the quilt’s center and just look are your meandering curved quilting in the border! You go, girl!
It’s nice to see Ozzie serenely comfy and gazing at the world outside.
I have my little Mon Ami quilt hanging on the wall in our entry hall. I do love it!
    Hugs!

  7. So darn cute! Love it! A little while ago I made my first Bite and got that bug too. I had to pull out Tara Lynn Darr’s Simply Charming book and make another little quilt. Fantastic to practice machine quilting, which appears to be what you are doing. Also, great feeling of immediate gratification.

  11. I love the little quilt. I totally love French General fabrics. Most of all, I love that you made this for yourself! And so nice that a small quilt can be finished relatively quickly. You’re done in plenty of time for Valentine’s Day! (Nice quilting, too.)

  15. I love the little quilt. I should make some-instant (almost) gratification and I could quilt it myself. It’s almost like Where’s Waldo with Ozzie. He blends into the background so well!

  17. lol, our kitchen windows are large and the sill is just low enough for our dog to sit and rest her chin so she can observe everything going on out front. ;p

  19. Loove your topper and French General fabric, kind of justifies all of them as they “go together” 🙂

  21. Looks really nice! French General is such a timeless range of fabrics. They haven’t made a range I haven’t liked yet. I love the designs Carrie creates in her schnibbles and bites too. So clever.
