I surely seem to be obsessed with my Fig Tree stash lately. Am I in danger of Figging Out? Well, wigging out maybe, but not due to my total immersion in this pretty fabric.
So far, these lovely soft tones are just what I need to soothe my my raggedy psyche.
I finished up three more Kiss Me blocks yesterday and even though I swore I wasn't starting anything new, I made two blocks of the 2011 Designer Mystery BOM using Fig Tree's Strawberry Fields. My rationalization was that it wasn't really something new, since it fit perfectly into the BOM Rehab category. After all, this project is a year old and now can be considered a UFO, even though I hadn't technically started it. Does that all make your head hurt too? Ok, enough.
This is Block Two, designed by Pam Buda. I really love it, but seriously Pam? Could you have designed a block with a few more pieces? lol Some beginner quilts have this many pieces in the entire top. We can't accuse this designer of "dumbing down" anything. It was fun to sit and concentrate on getting all these litle bitty shapes to fit together like they were supposed to. Takes my mind right off my real life, which frankly is a bit too dramatic this week.
Grandpa fell again, and through some miracle, again was not injured. We are having some very serious talks over the next few days, so wish us luck.

Your blocks are beautiful. You can’t go wrong with Fig Tree fabrics! I wish you well with your ‘serious talks’. It can’t be easy for your family and also for Grandpa. Isn’t sewing the best therapy?

Oh no! Poor Grandpa! Yes, serious talks are necessary, but never easy. Been there. Sending hugs to you and prayers for the situation to come to a solution that will be best for all of you.
And soft, lovely Fig Tree fabrics are just the right medicine for you right now. Enjoy!

The Fig Tree fabrics are lovely and they love reds as much as you do, so it’s no wonder you’re immersed in your Fig stash!
Block Two is indeed involved! I once made four Lewis and Clark blocks and each block had something like 60 pieces. I kid you not.
Hugs!

We went through this with my grandmother and then with my in-laws. Not easy at all. My heart and prayers go out to you.
Ultimately we found that hiring a caregiver to be with them around the clock enabled them to live at home instead of a nursing home. It provided them with good care and supervision, and took a lot of anxiety off of us. Of course everyone has to find the right solution for their situation! Good luck to you, and I hope you find the answers you seek.

I love your figgy blocks! Has Grandpa had physical therapy to help his balance? My dad just went Through that and it made a huge difference. Just a suggestion. It might not be what grandpa needs. Good luck figuring it all out.

You can never overdose on Fig Tree fabrics, in my opinion! And, Strawberry Fields is my favorite!
You have some difficult decisions ahead and it’s never easy for anyone in the family. So many of us have been there or are going to be in the same situation soon. Best to you and the family and so glad Grandpa wasn’t seriously injured!

First of all, we could call ourselves “Figsters”. Those who love Fig Tree fabric!!!! Is Grandpa using a cane? Those three footed ones are great. My husband’s physical therapist suggested he use one (even though I had mentioned it) and it has really helped since his balance is so bad.

Hey, it’s the “Summer of Fun”, you can work on anything that makes you happy this summer! We’ll worry about finishes come fall!
That design wall is nothing but fun!

Yikes! So glad grandpa wasn’t hurt. Good luck with whatever needs to be said/done. It’s never easy.

Sorry to hear about Grandpa, and glad to know he’s okay…this time. I thought the suggestion about some physical therapy for balance had merit, maybe that’s something he could do.
I am in the process of putting together my Strawberry Fields BOM. As I went to sew Block 2 (the one you feature) into it’s row, I as horrified to see that there was no 1/4″ space above one of the red “squares.” Apparently, some very bad sewing there! I had no choice but to rip that section out, cut new pieces and resew. Perfect! Fortunately for me, the rest of the pieces went together just fine. 🙂

All of your Kiss Me blocks are pure loveliness. I had planned to try to “sew-along-with” on the Kiss Me quilt, but so far I’m falling way behind as I do not even have the pattern yet!!
Sorry to hear about Grandpa – maybe the suggestion about balance physical therapy will help. It sure makes sense. I’m sure he’s a little weakened from his weeks in the rehab and wheelchair and that is amplifying his situation.
You have to go see my “schnibbles building” that I discovered! (on my blog today) LOL!

Your blocks are lovely…I don’t envy you having the “talk”. Been there, done that. It is hard for you and for them.

I’ve been working through my Fig Tree stash as well – I’m sure that people think I don’t own/use any other fabrics sometimes. I love your Pam Buda block – the colours look wonderful and it is beautifully made. I hope Grandpa has a better week coming up.

What better way to wig out than on Fig Tree fabrics! Your blocks are so pretty. Sorry to hear Grandpa fell, glad he wasn’t injured. Keeping you all in my thoughts. Been down that road before & it’s not easy to make those health care decisions. Isn’t it wonderful to have pretty fabrics & so many project ideas to sew your troubles away? Hope you have a great week-end!

Gorgeous, gorgeous blocks – the fabric is divine.
Sorry to hear about grandpa – old age isn’t a bundle of laughs is it? Hope your talks go well and you find a solution that works for everyone. Thinking of you!
