Can you see the cool device that is screwed onto the bed of my Featherweight? Here is a more close up shot:
It is an amazing seam guide that you can put on your machine. It is unfailingly accurate. You can adjust it to a perfect quarter inch, or even that elusive "scant" quarter inch that we are all advised to be using. Don’t you absolutely love the lace design in the plastic template? I bought this little gem for $10.50 when I was up at the Buggy Barn taking my two classes with Carrie Nelson. Lisa kindly loaned me her white Featherweight to use for the class so I was saved from lugging my machine on the airplane. When we set up the machine though, horrors!!, the quarter inch presser foot wasn’t accurate! Buggy Barn saved the day (and my class experience) by selling me this cute attachment. It worked like a charm and now I want to give them to all my Featherweight owning girl friends. Here are some photos of the unassuming little package it came in:
I bet you could also call up those sweet ladies at Buggy Barn and order it over the telephone! Here is their number if you would like to do that: (877) 339- 0281.

I’ve heard of this gadget but have not seen it around here. What a joy to know you’re getting a perfect 1/4″ without the hassle. I’ll have to order one for my Featherweight.

That looks so elegant on your black Featherweight! I’ll have to get one for my white FW since the foot I got is worthless! I see that the Buggy Barn also offers them online for purchase.

Thanks for the info about that neat gadget! I recently got my mom’s Featherweight, although I haven’t used it yet. But I’m thinking it would be good for classes, and that attachment seems like a “must have.” By the way, have your ears been burning? One of the gals in my online group found your blog and posted a link to my group, who have all been greatly admiring your quilt photos! I, of course, can just say, “Oh, yes, I know her–she’s a blog buddy of mine.” LOL!

I was just thinking about ordering a 1/4 inch foot for my featherweight – but I don’t think I will now. Right now I am using a little magnet that sits on the needle plate. I am having trouble using that instead of the edge of the foot like I do with my Pfaff. I need to practice more. But I might need to order one of those – thanks for the info!!
I have been enjoying your posts about the trip to the Buggy Barn.
