Around the House

This was my table setting for the Harvest Party last weekend.  I have to remind myself that from now on I need to buy placemats in sets of 8.  I seem to always get either four or six and then when I have seven dinner guests I am in a quandary as to how to set the table.

Eva arranged my ghost family in front of the fireplace.  I love that she saw a place that needed to be filled, and was so thoughtful in her organization.

Isn't this just the perfect touch?  I have my Sunflower Sisters quilt hanging over the upper floor railings and love how it looks.   Don't judge that the binding isn't completely sewn down yet.  How great are those yellow flower petals against the yellow walls?

You all have seen my diamond patchwork table topper, but doesn't it look great with the bouquet of lilies in the background?  A gift from an admirer Sara refuses to identify.

After over five years of being without our grandfather clock, we finally got it set up in the foyer of our current house.  It has been in Grandpa Larry's garage, which can't have been good for it.  We can't get it to run now.  My husband and Grandpa Larry built this clock together in the 1980s.

I showed this picture yesterday, but the main thing to notice is the cookbook.  It is a new release by a well known self-starter YouTuber named Laura Vitale.  If you don't know Laura Vitale, you should go right to You Tube and check her out.  She is beautiful and sweet and has had her own cooking show on YouTube for a few years.  Her recipes are simple and easy and she is a doll to watch.  She got a contract to publish a cookbook and it is just as super as she is.  You can get her book on amazon.com, but seriously, go watch a few of her videos first.  I know you will be impressed.

  1. How lovely your home is and the Sunflower Sisters quilt is absolutely perfect where it is as are your other autumn touches. Your ghost family looks right at home, too, thanks to Eva’s perfect placement. I wouldn’t worry about mismatched placemats as they add color and fun.
    Ohhhhhhhhhhh! A secret admirer for Sara?! 🙂
    We have the grandmother clock that my father built in the 1970s but it won’t run because my mother over wound it when she had Alzheimers. Sigh! How you can fix the beautiful clock Grandpa Larry and your hubby built. Perhaps it needs to dry out from garage humidity? On the other hand, maybe where there is no rain there is no humidity??

  28. Wishing the best for Sara and Eva! Happy that Eva will be close enough for you to see her very often! My granddaughter began college this year, about 2-2 1/2 hrs away and I miss knowing she isn’t home anymore (home was 75 miles away.) Your decorating is great! I have the same problem with placemats!
