Blocks Finished

2013-01-22 12.32.08

I am making real progress this week with my Message in a Bottle blocks.  I have completed the square in a square blocks (56), the pinwheel blocks (42), and the pieced setting triangles (26).  Soon, I will be putting these up on the design wall and sewing my rows together!

This pattern is highly recommended by me.  The blocks are simple, easy to piece, and the only time consuming aspect has been the amount of trimming required.  The trimming has been totally worth it, as all the block components have come together perfectly.  Once the blocks are connected, there will be a fairly complex looking design, that will be pleasing to the eye, I think.

Sorry about the picture quality. I took the photo with my camera, and the lighting is very strange.  You get the idea though!

Plenty of sewing going on, but it's a busy week all the same!

Next up I am going to work on my baskets for the Hill Country Basket quilt.  These are much more tedious and are going to require a lot more concentration on my part.

  1. WOW! Great job Nicole!! Isn’t it a real treat when you have lots of sewing time and see so much progress. 🙂 When you first posted about this project I thought the fabrics were beautiful, I do love the blues and browns/tans all together. (remember the little village table topper in Blueberry Crumbcake? I have mine on my table right now too:))…anyway, this will be a very nice quilt. Looking forward to seeing it on your design wall..and maybe finished and quilted soon! :0)

  7. Applause, applause!!!! You are still the Speed Piecing Queen and these blocks are wonderful! They will soon be happily sewn together to make that amazing quilt. Well done!
It’s frigid here this morning and I hope to stay tucked in and sew.

  9. I am amazed at your production – you must run a “sweat shop” to accomplish so much in such a short time. But unlike the output of “sweat shops” your finished results are perfect!!!

  15. Beautiful! Your photography makes them look like they are glowing! I would love to “pick-your-brain” as to how you make dinners and get laundry done and still have time to accomplish so much sewing! LOL
