Back on track this week with the BOM Rehab, I am happy to say! I finished Block Eleven of the Peace on Earth Designer Mystery BOM over the weekend. That project is definitely coming together and all that will remain will be the lattice, which involves a star pattern and is awfully pretty.
I've been seeing some seriously cute Strawberry Fields blocks in the BOM Rehab group, which is making me think I should do several of those blocks each week and get caught up on that BOM, which I have not even cracked open. Since I am so deeply into my Fig Tree fabrics lately, it probably would be fun for me. I need to order the finishing kit as well, before it is too late!
Thanks so much to all of you who left comments on how to make smoothies last week. I sure did get some great ideas! The one that I am incorporating immediately is to add some flax seed to my smoothies. What I didn't ask is should I grind it up first, or does it get ground up in the blender with everything else?

If you don’t pre-grind your flaxseed it passes through your system undigested. It needs to be finely ground, I don’t think that will happen in the blender with the other smoothie ingredients.
Here’s a good link on how to grind, store and use flaxseed.

Love the BOM!! I think the idea of using the Strawberry Fields fabrics for the BOM blocks will add lots of fun and you’ll have a 2nd quilt painlessly! Great idea!
I got lots of smoothie ideas, too, so appreciate the post and the link Thelma provided today!
Hugs!

I like to grind it up and then store it in the freezer. I bought a grinder (Cuisinart) just for the purpose of grinding flax seed.

Would love to see your have smoothie recipe also! I’m thinking if the blender is powerful enough, it would grind up your flax seed for you…

Look at those perfect points on your block this week! As always! I’m not sure you would be able to get the finishing kit anymore from FQS on the 2011 BOM … but I’m sure Kim and the ladies would help you with the yardage and SKUs needed – if not, let me know and I’ll crack mine open and help you out!

This is where you have an advantage Nicole! When you decide to tackle the 2011 BOM with Strawberry Fields… cut as much of the blocks with the fabric in the first kits… saving the larger pieces in the newer kits. I have enough left over to make a whole other quilt!

Love your BOM. And Kiss Me – FT pattern has got to go on my must have, must do list! Beautiful!
I know what you mean about the weight. I lost quite a bit of weight last year when I was really sick and had back surgery. I have put about half of it back on…and in a short time. Yuck!

Glad to see you got the correct answer on the flax seed, now will you be sharing some of your yummy new recipes? I’m always looking for new smoothie recipes that are quick and yummy! Oh, and I’m not sure if anyone told you that you can always make up a batch then freeze them in individual servings in the freezer. I used to do that with protein drinks, just put them in a tupperware cup, don’t even need a lid, just foil 🙂

I’ve always just put the flaxseeds straight into the blender. They get pretty ground up! There will be a few that escape the blades, but that’s OK

Grind your flax seeds first. A coffee grinder works great. Without being ground, they go straight through your body without the nutrition being absorbed.
