As I promised myself, I have kept my nose to the grindstone and have been working on borders, bindings, and backings to get unfinished quilts done and out the door. In the photo above you see the binding strips for two quilts, and the inner and outer border strips for another.
Best of all, I have finished the Snowman Gatherings quilt! Here it is with the side borders attached. I decided the size was peculiar in that it was 67 inches from top to bottom and 85 inches wide. So I added a 6.5 inch border to both the top and bottom of the quilt and am much happier with the proportions.
Much better. Luckily, I had purchased a ton of that blue snowflake/dot fabric and had plenty.
It's been cool and rainy here this week, so the past couple of days have been perfect for staying in and sewing. Eva made brownies yesterday for her daddy's birthday, and I am happy to say all went well and there were no kitchen disasters. How's your week going?

Yay for the quilt finish! I really like the block in the border 🥰 We have had a cool, wet and foggy week. My sewing group is an hour away and Tuesday we had strong rain and some flooding areas. A bit sketchy, but made it safely even over a lake bridge. I enjoy rainy weather so much if I’m at home.

I’ve never seen such an intricate border! You were right to add the extra though. I recently did that with another quilt to balance it better.

The top & bottom borders add a finished look without detracting from the pieced sides. I’ve ‘escaped’ cold weather for a couple of weeks spending time at my sister’s home in sunny Florida! 😎

Good morning. I definitely like the way you added the extra top and bottom borders. I’m taking my sewing machine in today for regular service and if I am really lucky I will get it back in two weeks. If not, then I will be able to pick it up in four weeks. Not to worry though as I have plenty of handwork to do. And my sewing room could use a good dose of cleaning and reorganizing!

Our week has been rainy/cool/gray but is now clearing up and will be sunny for the weekend. We have had our national medical school accrediting team here so have been appropriately anxious! Lots of preparation for the past 4-6 years leading up to this week. But now today we are through!! Big sigh of relief.
